Anybody looking to trade something for a 993?

I'm posting this 'cause for a while there were some threads about what to buy, etc.. and a thread of a RUF conversion 993 in Arena Red on black (Steve's car from Santa Cruz.)

Here's a 993 RUF conversion, black on black, that's in super condition. I have no affiliation with the owner but I do know the car and the guy is a stand up Rennlist member.

He's looking for doing a trade. He needs a sedan now and says he "has to be sensible" and can't have both. The car has been his baby and he's taken super good care of it.

So, for anybody who might be interested here's the ad: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

You can also check it out on Rennlist: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...f-turbo-r.html

It's tempting. I'd have to add some cash since it's worth more than my 2009 E63.

edit: sorry the link to Rennlist is for members only. So, here's a pic. The car is worth every penny, it's a RUF conversion with all documentation and has been kept in excellent condition with all records, etc..

Wow, gorgeous, if that thing actually commands that asking price, then the 993 is literally the newest car I can think of (that isn't super low Production) that has graduated into "Classic" status, as re-Sale is so freaking good.

This is a RUF (Germany, not Dallas) conversion with all documentation from RUF Germany. It's priced right and plus the guy wants to do a trade. It's immaculate; the guy's into treating his cars right. Even regular 993 Turbos are still in the 70-80k+ price range.

This one also has a CTR2 center exhaust. The only one (non CTR2) in the world with a RUF installed CTR2 exhaust. GT1 brakes, new RUF turbos, lightweight flywheel and clutch, and data log system. 550hp.

The 993s have always kept their value. They were the last of the hand built before Porsche brought in Toyota to introduce mass production (which in the end actually saved their a*s from bankruptcy.) It was a pretty low production relative to other makes, esp the last C2S.

The economy took a bite in resale pricing but not nearly as bad as with the 996/997. Anyway, this is a special 993 and it's a beautiful specimen.

(btw, miles are really nothing on these cars; they can run forever if taken care of and driven daily. SAI is an issue on the OBDII cars but that's fixed with carbon clean out or a top end at the worst case. You could put another 60k on it easy.)

Porsche aficionados agree that it's worth every penny of that $80K if not more. It'll sell. I'd buy it if I had the liquid cash at hand, that's a beauty.

+1 The 993s in non RUF form fetch a huge premium. They have always been worth more then the 996tts. That is a beautiful car and worth every penny. Its a Porsche not a benz which means it actually holds it value!

+1 The Benz versus 993TT specialty market can't be compared. AMG Benzes are worth nothing in the end.

And if this particular car had, say, 20k on the odo it would be selling for a lot more. The price is right, plus the guy is really looking for a trade. Price is only there for Autotrader. On Rennlist he's going after a trade with members there.

Yeah, it's Javier's. He totaled his DD (BMW 5er)

Here's what Joel has to say about it:

"I know the owner (past performance driving school student of mine) and I have piloted this car more than once and can tell you it is the fastest 993 I have ever driven. If I was in a better position financially I would buy it in a heartbeat!

He has always maintained the car perfectly and anyone would be very very lucky to own it."

Wow!! The last time I saw something that nice was on Ocean Blvd in Miami, Florida. And it must have been 14 years ago. That's really a one of a kind vehicle. I'm suprise he's selling it. I'm so wish I can afford it. One day!!

No doubt if you know the Porsche market, especially the 993 market which is better then the 996 market, then you know this is a hell of a deal to get a much desired P-Car.

I cannot see spending 80k for this car with 61k on the clock. for 80k i can get a 930 turbo slant cab with 10k on the clock .

At least i can put some miles on it and not have to worry about losing value . Just my opinion !

Good point. Although I don't deny that 993 commanding and fetching that price, due to its amazing cred and full blown "Classic-Status" Re-Sale value, I'd hate to buy a "new" Hi-Performance Porsche, and be too afraid to drive it for all the years I'd want to have it, as you'll be rushing past 100K in no time unless the thing is a full blown garage queen.

996 Turbos is THE best used supercar to buy right now...2001s with 50K miles are in the mid $30s!
Amazing car for Camry money!
