$4850 Dealership bill

Took the car in to get the automatic trunk fixed. Told the dealer to look for anything else that can be changed. The breakdown: Trunk module $888 + $485 labor, transmission module $851 + $337 labor, idler pullies $556 + $229 labor, front motor mounts $363 + $917... the dealer just raped Chrysler Warranty.

$3850 warranty + $200 deductable = I am up $800 and still have over 4 years remaining on my contract. Now I understand why no one covers these cars. Thought I would share the joy with everyone --

Dealer said the warranty company is the best he has worked with. They did not question the repairs or try to negotiate... they did not send an inspector -- they just said ok.

If they are just replacing stuff to run up the bill then consider that they would do the same to you as to the insurance company. If that's the case I wouldn't give them my business - warranty or not.

This is what's going to happen to healthcare in this country - only we're all the insurance company.

well better to have those items replaced now -- than when the warranty expires -- I told him the car hiccups a little bit & the belt tensioner may be worn out --- So, he looked into it and fixed those problems -- I also tried to get a new supercharger clutch but I guess its not time yet.

Can you get a warranty when your factory one is already expired? Like mine is.

I took my SL in w/slow battery draining problem, they called me back stating it was originating inside the actual Command unit. Fix? Replace entire Command unit/screen + had locking problem center console replaced that as well. Final bill to Chrysler warranty was $7200-$7500 (can't remember exact figure) ALL paid by Warranty minus $100 deductible

These cars are great! But absolutely NOT to be owned w/OUT FULL warranty, I'm 2 yrs in & it doesn't run out till 2013 or 100k mi

Just got my car back today from MB with a $2700 bill with a $200 deductible. Had 2 new ball joints put in, new coolant sensor and fan replaced, and 4 new tpms sensors and control unit with labor. I just bought the five year warranty on the 1/4/10 and am $400 till even. Granite Chrysler is paying the bill, but I was all over Mercedes making sure they were not yanking my chain nor fixing things just to fix them and running up the bill. I do not want to rip off Chrysler because #1 I am honest but #2 in the future if I truly have a big problem they probably will be less inclined to authorize the fix.

Sorry, but warranties are important for consumers when they really need them. It's not about you encouraging the stealership to rake in more profit. That's like body shops jacking up their costs to get more from insurance companies. You and I lose in the end with higher costs for warranties and insurance.

Your scumbag dealer should have their MB franchise taken away.

This is every reason to get a warranty. These two parts alone fail on many E55's including mine. I don't understand why some people preach against buying a warranty.

Man this thread just got me thinking. I've been out of warranty for a few years and only had to replace BCU and alternator.

I'll say so! I replaced mine in under 2 hours using basic hand tools. I'd like to see the breakdown on that bill.

That price is rip off....... Actually Dealer quoted $4K repaire bill + 7 days repaire time. My indy shop who only repaire Mercedes quoted $2k with 3 days job. Change the engine mount and trasmission mount doesnt take so many hours of labor..... they just rip off the warranty company.

guysandiego- Which dealer did you use? You mentioned that the dealer had a very good experience with the Chrysler Warranty. I got a Battery Workshop light today, and will take this opportunity to fix the two items I have noticed: Drivers door handle quit working (auto open) and one of the back seat belts is very slow to retract.

I figure if it is going in, Ill get all of this corrected on the deductble. If you get a chance, let me know where you went.

Thanks!

Now I know why chrysler isn't writing any more AMG warranties and canceling recent ones. Mine is paid off now and was written up last May 2009...glad I have it now after hearing your posts.

I know we're all happy that we got these great warranties that cover our vehicles quite nicely... But, do you think coming here on a public forum bragging about it is the right thing to do? Not putting anyone down, but just think about it... Most companies DO research their product and their end user reviews... Imagine a Chrysler rep stumbling on this forum reading everyone bragging about how we just raped the warranty company... I know for a fact that in the 10+ years I worked for Diamler, some of our district reps did participate and keep watch on various forums... I'm not saying this is the reason we don't have coverage anymore, but it's definitely possible...

It will always be what is best for each individual and how much one can game the system. One individual amongst many trying to do the right thing just does not cover the costs of all those who do the raping. From the post guysandiego made a while back that is ludicrous. I think asking to go and see exactly what they are saying is bad or needs to replaced should be looked at before approving which is what I did. It is one thing using the warranty to fix an item regardless of price if it is genuinely faulty or bad, but it is another just to replace things for the heck of it and running up a bill. My .02

I don't understand... How could they cancel your warranty if you've paid for it in some case 3-5K? There is a contract that was agreed to and signed by both you and the underwriting warranty company for a period of time. Warranty companies file BK, that is another story. CSC discontinuing the warranty program for AMG cars that makes complete and total sense. Repairs on these cars are insane the parts are astronomically expensive.

+1! Its not the first time someone's come on here and bragged about raping their warranty company (and IIRC not the first time the OP has done it).

You have seen nothing yet..... More often than not, I've seen repair bills closer in the amount to what TheRicker has posted earlier: $7k and that was not even for an AMG vehicle

Warranty IS A MUST when driving Mercedes

The bean counters keep track; I'm pretty certain when cost exceeds profit, they'll pull the plug on the warranties, or start charging $9k for the extended warranty instead of $4K. In either situation the blame will rest with the consumers who abused the system and the dealers who did the same
