Imagine how much this guy could make if he put the parts list together, got his mechanic to release what programming to do with star, and sold it as a DIY package. Alot of guys would pounce at that conversion.

I am really thinking about trying this. I like the airmatic and all but every other car I have owned has rolled on coilovers and I love the way cars handle on them. I am trying to get the star program so I can do the codes without having to go to the dealer. I would like to see more photos with the car up on a lift.

Did you have to change anything with SDS tool? I saw an option in there for both Airmatic and "steel springs".

The coilover mod combined with the SBC delete and E63 brake conversion would make the E55 much more appealing for spirited driving.

Yes, you have to choose steel suspension, but the more important thing is to find the way to control the headlights autoleveling device by airmatic sensors, while the airmatic is turned off.

Wow, I'm interested in buying an E55 and airmatic has always made me think twice about it. This is GREAT news!

I would be interested in a conversion set

I have an e500 and would like a set..... so the key on the star diagnostics is to relevel the headlights before changing the airmatic to steel?

For those that don't have the active headlights, that makes this conversion one step easier. My zenons are aftermarket along with the fogs so no worries on the warning from the computer.

The headlights releveling themselfs every time you start your car. The stock headlights (adaptive or not) use front level sensors, which are the part of airmatic system, to level themselfs to the correct hight. When you altering the airmatic sistem in favor of a steel suspension you have to turm off the whole airmatic sistem by star,
but at the same time leave those sensors active.

I don't know, my mechanic has done it. You have to find someone, who is familiar with star mashine.
