E55 then E63, now back to an E55
Airmatic Message/Noise - Question.....
Hello, have an E63 with 60k miles.
Yesterday evening, message in instrument cluster popped up while driving - "Malfunction" with picture of vehicle and "UP" arrow inside car. I stopped immediately, turned off car - waited a few moments, started up again, played with "rising" feature as well as Comfort/Sport 1/Sport 2 settings.
All functioned properly.
Started driving again, thinking "fluke". Almost immediately had the same message. Just ignored it and drove the few miles home.
Drove the car about 5 miles this morning round trip, no problems although I got the same "Malfunction" message. Later drove it another three. Just now, upon arriving at destination and turning car off - heard a loud buzzing-type noise, coming from front of car (sounded like the fan staying on.) Investigated & the fan was off, noise coming from somewhere behind LEFT (driver) headlight but not sure how far down. Put my head literally next to the wheel and noticed it there as well, very loudly. Guessing it was some type of air compressor ?
Started the car, again cycled through Comfort/Sport 1/Sport 2/Rising Mode - which worked fine. After about five minutes the noise entirely stopped....

mine didnt have a malfunction message but the same noise every now and then....nothing is leaking under the 55...how do I check this out? Im still new to the Merc...

Had my E63 for about 2 weeks now, heard a sound of Air Being let out of the suspension after shouting off the car? Dont think I have ever heard it before, is it normal that Airmatic car does this?

That is your air suspension settling down, if you have an error message then something is wrong, do not ignore it, as it could cost you more serious green backs. If that car is smart enough to tell you that there's a problem, you should be smart enough not to ignore it, and have it checked out.

So mine making the the loud fan like noise but no msg is ok? I didnt notice it before but this is a new to me car. I already started looking for parts, lol....
