Warranty Saga continues....

I've been looking for a warranty for my E55 since I am moving. I currently have the luxury of being related to the shop foreman at the local MB dealership so a warranty has never really been a thought. I've read all the posts on the warranty issue and here is what I have so far.

I spoke with Lisa Lehrbaum who wanted to sell me an EasyCare policy (3 year 36k) for 4K. She said it covered "everything" except trim items, tires and brakes. Does anyone have one of these policies? Reviews?

I also called Chrysler today at the 800 number I found on here and the guy said I was eligible but I would have to call a Chrysler dealership and get a policy from them. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Thanks for any input.

I had the easycare on my C32, and it was great. Two visits, seats, and IC pump, with NO charge.

Best part was when I sold the car, the new owner received the balance of it. He also has had two trips, zero dollars.

So YES, I like it and recommend it

Thanks man, glad to get some feedback. I'm going to call the chrysler dealership tomorrow and see what they say so I can have something to compare it to.

I would also recommend the EasyCare extended warranty. I had it on my 02 C32 for 2 years and it covered a new transmission, radiator, torque converter, TCU, many suspension parts, upgraded heated seats, sc clutch and a pulley, idler pulley, new crank pulley, and other little things. I got my moneys worth as I paid $3000 for the warranty and ended up with a fully restored almost new car. The total repairs covered on the car were around $15000+. On the downside, I had to pay $200 deductible every time I took it in for repairs.

Yeah, I'd say you got your moneys worth for sure. Definitely wanted to get some positive reviews before I went and dropped 4k on it. She quoted me a 200 dollar deductable as well. I guess I'll have to wait until multiple things are wrong and have them all fixed at once. haha. Thanks for the reply man, I appreciate it.

Just spoke with Easy Care and they will not cover ABC for any MB older than '05 or '06, I forget which. They'll will provide a policy for my '02 CL500 for drive train, etc...$2600 for 3 years/36K miles, $50 deduct per visit, and $100 for an inspection of the car. A guy will actually come to your home or work for this. Anyone know of an insurer who will cover ABC for older MB's? Chrysler stopped doing so in Dec. '09.

I'm not surprised warranty companies are doing this.... ABC is very expensive when it has to be replaced or even repaired but there should still be some warranty companies capable of covering such a repair

what are the mileage on the ones that have easycare or have been quoted. I called Easycare direct & they did not offer me the exclusionary policy. It was the next one down & it was $3700 for 2 years.

When I spoke to Lisa on the phone she quoted me the "best" policy they had. My car is an 04 with 57k. I'm not sure what the disconnect is so I will get some clarification tomorrow.

Be specific and ask about ABC. The gal I talked to, LouAnn I believe, didn't mention it until I asked and then she said she'd find out and get back to me. She called later and said it wasn't covered and that she knew of no policies that covered it on older MB.

Can someone recommend a warranty company other than Chrysler and Easy Care? Chrysler will not cover my '02 CL500 and while Easy Care will, it won't cover the ABC system.

seems absurd that anyone w/a $30,000 car has to buy an aftermarket warrantee for it.......

and the fact that some companies won't cover certain systems on these cars speaks volumes about the reliability of them....

Would have liked to had the warranty today. Left the dentist and the car didn't want to start. Finally got it going and about 3 miles later everything shut off. Had to have it towed 60 miles to the dealership. Some sensor went bad, not sure what it was. Not cool having the beast on a flat bed!

Spoke with Lisa again today and she told me not to look at what a policy covers but what it doesn't cover. She told me again that the Total Care Policy will cover the airmatic and everything else minus trim/molding and brakes. Probably going to pull the trigger next week.

It may be a $30,000 car now, but if you think an "old" $90,000 car is going to be a bargain to repair, let me point you to the nearest Chrysler dealership, where you can get a new car for the same 30k, with a free new car warranty thrown in.

Theses are complicated cars, which is why they cost what they do when new. The more things there are to break, the more things will get broken, as they wear out.
