Cat upgrade to accept 110 or 100 octane, leaded fuel
The last time I looked at the issue of putting 110 or 100 octane, leaded race fuel into an E320 or E55, basically what I heard was that it will kill the catalytic converter.
OK, so lets look at this problem from the other side:
-Is there a way to upgrade the cat to be able to handle 110, leaded fuel?
-Are there any other compnents that would be effected by the lead content or higher octane fuel?
Just so you know, this is for track purposes only and wouldn't be daily-driven @ 110 gas. It would most likely use 15-20 gallons in 1.5hrs-2hrs at Laguna Seca.

Gotcha...That makes sense...A couple of the drag strips around Dallas have 100 unleaded, but I can see how LS would not...Haha just pull your cats for the day...Kidding...Sorry I am absolutely no help, but I don't think you can make your cats work with leaded...

+1 on the 02 sensors! I believe 76 stations sell 100 octane unleaded gas in certain locations. There is a station in either Ontario or Chino off Euclid that sells it. You'd have to be running some high boost to necessitate the use of fuels higher than 100 octane on our cars.

2004 E320
No Mods on the E320, just the racing wheel and tire setup.
I wanted to look into this because, if it was some easy mod's I would have loved to upgrade since I have access.
Also for next season I will be running a 335i Coupe which is boosted, and if I could understand the concepts necessary to handle that kind of fuel, it would be nice. Learn about it now and really apply it next season.
Thanks though!

On your E320, unless you slap on a supercharger, turbos, or nitrous, and then compliment them with a tune, you would see no gains from the higher octane race fuels. Just stick with the 91 octane California crappy gas or try the VP 94 octane.
