only problem with our e55s is the gearing,once were in 3rd gear the car is slow as crap and the m5 will fly past us.

I felt the same way in my friends m5 but once he hit 3rd the car pulled harder and harder and 4th was just the same,all the way up to redline.

The E60 looks like a bloated fatty next to the sexy Benz (comment comes via pic you posted which doesn't show up in above quote).

It can handle as good as it wants, nothing changes the fact that the E60 is a frill-full flawed design that is already so passe, it looks like it belongs to a couple decades ago.

F10 on the other hand....

I bought the E55 for the following reasons.
1)-I think the E55 has a better interior than the M5
2)-You sit in the seats in an E55 but you sit on the seats in an M5
3)-The torque in an E55 is just jaw dropping.I would say once you experience torque you will never go back to high reving engines.
Again 2 great cars for 2 totally different people.

Actually there was a recent video that disproved this. The E55 has so much down low that 3rd and 4th might feel that way but is still enough to dispatch the M5.

M5s are fast, just not as fast as what we have become accustomed to for practical and streetable acceleration. E55s can be plain sick if you want usable power down low on a daily basis. If one prefers to drive over 100mph and hit the twisties everyday, an M5 would be the better option.

Nice find. The sound of that M5...

I admit I miss the sound and the SMG (the downshifts with headers and race exhaust was heaven) of my M5, but it really was not a fast car. After enjoying the torque of the e55, I could never go back.

E55 AMG
I would have to agree with the overwhelming majority. I bought my e55 comparing it to an m5 and an rs4 audi. I felt 50 in the m5 and the rs4 (I'm 24). In the E- I felt like, woah! That's as powerful as my built TT300zx, STOCK! Granted, the other 2 handle better in the curves, however, when in the hell am I going to do that in NoVa? Never. This is a cruising/straight line area. To ride it and enjoy the company of a beautiful lady on a trip and mash the gas and hear her scream = priceless. All while enjoying instant VIP status. I wouldn't sell mine for any other vehicle.

no need for cap locks,I know a little about my car,even down to the gearing and tires I use to drag it.

My e55 is far from stock and my pump is working just fine.

I can race 3 different m cars and have been in them up top,everytime the M power pulls harder on the last 1/8 of the 1/4 and is why they all trap higher speeds than us(we beat them from our grunt in the ets)but they always out trap us at the end because the last 1/8 of the mile they are acc faster than us.

if we had the e63 gearing it would be night and day,Im at 500whp and wont race an m6 top end (4th gear).I know I will lose at those speeds

I dont feel like digging up the mag results but the m6 will get to 160 like 3 seconds faster than an e55 and the e55 will be in front of it until 85mph.

ohh and Im talking about past 120 bro,I said the M5/6 will start to walk at around 85-90 and from there on it will pass you and when you hit 4th gear.I dont care how much power your making,once your in 4th gear its game over,the M car is gone

just for fun Im goin to race my friend in his m6 and we will start at 85 and ill be in 3rd,guess who will get to 160 first(hes at 460 ish whp)

Well, could be like the Kleemann car on M5Board, you have a lot of power but the car pulls timing out if you can't cool it. The stock M6 beat the Kleemann car because there's no cooling upgrades! I don't know your mods, definitely sounds like you know what you're doing. I do know we are gearing challenged, but I've seen several out run M5s on the top modded versus modded (ex. RENNTECH STAGE 5 CAR versus M5 in Mexico). Once you go over 600 WHP, I've heard from reliable sources that the SMG tranny can't handle it. Our 5-spds can, some need a shift-kit though.

VIDEO PLEASE whoops....there's goes those caps again--LOL--J/K.

Who cares?

Where do you drive legally above 80 other than at the track?

The E55 is a faster car from light to light...and looks better while doing it. End of story.

I couldn't get to the reply button fast enough to post EXACTLY, what you just did! Where the hell are all of you driving at 120+ daily? 90% of all races are from the light. It's rare that someone even gets close enough to me on a highway to get up to 100+! And even then I'm rolling up on them, not them on me.

I don't know fellas......I've NEVER lost to a BMW product! I'm not exactly stock either!

M5=Scalpel
E55= (You knew it) A Hammer

M5=A Diamond
E55=Coal

The M5 is classy and refined, truly a flawless machine. The E55 tho...The 55 gives you a hod rod feel and sound the M5 just has no clue about.

Hey J! Yeah I had to take a break from all the negative stuff that was going on here. It just wasn't fun anymore with all the racial and political undertones. Mods didn't do anything about it, seemed like some encouraged it actually. I got a pm from Chris and Aleks and came here to reply. That was all. Otherwise, hope all is well in Indy! U going to any Final 4 games? Go Butler huh? Take care man.........sorry for the hijack OP!

When I was shopping for a fast four door sedan I thought once I drove an M5 it would be all over, so that is the first car I drove. After sitting in one for thirty seconds I knew this was NOT the car for me. The interior is to sterile and purpose built and gave a claustrophobic feel to the space. The handling is it's strong suit and it certaintly has an intoxicating engine note....once to get the revs into the stratosphere...lol.

Then I checked out a 535 sport with six speed. The interior is a bit more luxurious and the seats fit me much better. The car is very responsive, and that N54 engine has HUGE potential for mods and gobs of low end torque, even stock.That said you would need to void your BMW warranty and maintenance to get anywhere near the power the E55 puts down....stock.

Then I drove the E55....game over.
It's a good days drive when I come across an M5....

so you guys race 1st and 2nd only lol,don't come to our street races here,most races start at 65mph lol

this sat night is going to be unreal,we will have 70d weather!!!!

here 50-140mph as you can see the e55 is neck to neck going threw second gear and dies when it hits 3rd,our 3rd,4th, and 5th gears suck!!!Now if it had the e63 ratios it would of killed the m6

LIES. ///M hacked up the 5-series so much it doesn't resemble a stable 5-series except from the exterior. Completely different suspension, brakes, entirely different steering system, drivetrain, etc.

I was waiting for you to chime in... So true. I guess its all subjective but I find BMW steering and handling to be superior to the pigmatic suspension in the W211 E55 and E63. I know there has been progress made in the W212E63 but how long did it take? Interior is always subjective. As much as all the Benz guys hate hearing "wait till the twisties" or "from a 60 mph roll", I guess the Bimmer M guys hate hearing "from a dig" too.

Both great cars, owned an M6 and E55 and on different days they had their advantages. Low end tq and stop lighters go to the AMG- higher speed runs and lightning fast shifts are the M's house.

I really doubt he drove one Vic. He obviously has ZERO idea what he's talking about and points out the same crap that every fanboy has said for the last 4 years. 90% a 545??? El. Oh. El. Stop it.

Standard Disclaimer: I love the 55k cars, but they're drastically different than an ///M car and FOR ME, I like the positives of the M5 more than the positives of the E55.
