Talking Weighed my Forgestars vs Stockers. . .

When they were first put on I forgot to weigh them. As I was driving home after the installation, I noticed a dramatic improvement with turn in response and braking (not necessarily braking distance, but just the feel that it was working a lot LESS harder when braking). Wanted to confirm so that I wasn't experiencing "placebo effect".

I weighed them multiple times and took the heaviest weight; both sets run at 35 psi (full disclosure, it was done on my bathroom scale)

Stock fronts (with tires) 18x8.0 (Conti DWS 18/40/245) 52.8 lbs
Forgestar fronts (with tires) 19x8.5 (Conti DW 19/35/245) 42.4 lbs

Stock rears (with tires) 18x9.0 (Conti DWS 18/35/275) 54.2 lbs
Forgestar rears (with tires) 19x10 (Conti DW 19/30/275) 48.0 lbs

Total weight savings: 33.2 lbs (20.8 pounds up front; 12.4 lbs in the rear).

That's a significant savings in rotating mass.

Great looking and lighter weight! Can not beat that combo. Thanks for taking the time to do the comparison BT.

right off the bat it was in handling and braking - it was truly noticeable; haven't been able to really get a feel for acceleration because even with the stockers on, anything over a 1/4 throttle results in no one in your rearview mirror (and I just got a ticket last week). I just wanted to make sure it wasn't in my head and when they were off today, I thought it would be a good time to figure out if it was in my head or legit.

- you still get that beer anytime you're in DC

I seriously wasn't expecting it to be that much. It was shocking picking up the stockers to put on the scale after the Forgestars. Especially with the fronts, I said out loud "holy *****, these are heavy"

And they're bigger too!
Seems to be a theme with this board - bigger is better

I actually ran into a delay with mine but it didn't bother me that much: 1) we had over 5 feet of snow 2) I'm using them as my summer set up so I had to wait for the temps to get over 50 to run the tires 3) Right when I placed my order, I saw the group buy go nuts and when running a google search, they seemed to hit all the boards at same time so I knew the odds were against it once I saw all the demand and that demand was for the reason I was willing to wait - 1400.00. I really like them, I don't like to wait but the only other wheels I'd probably go after are the ADV's and the BBS and those are getting close to the same price for one wheel. Currently, if someone is willing to wait (or if they buy them from another member) they get light, good looking wheels for a pretty decent price.

I'll take 33.2 lbs savings of rotational weight any day

Wait until I do the comparison of the stock headers v. the shorties

Damn BT, thats a major difference per corner Especially for an 18" v 19" wheel thats a pretty substantial difference. Appreciate the comparison buddy!

Are you still planning on dropping the beast a little?

*** And you for sure need to get a radar/laser jammer hidden it that beast asap to avoid such hassles

Have an Escort 9500 hardwired to the right of the rear view mirror (didn't have it turned on); The part I'm the most ashamed of is the "laser interceptor" that has been sitting in my office for a year now waiting to get put on. I think when the headers go on, I'll finally take car of that one.

Great weight savings with a much better look....awesome! Thanks again for taking the time to share with others, a vital piece of information which most vendors never post. When choosing my rims both looks and weight was definitely on my mind

I will be trying the Conit DW's on my next set of tires. I'm willing to sacrifice a little performance if there is any for a better and quieter ride. My Toyo T1R's have been great but after 2 sets it's time to move on. I look forward to the new set and I'll post my opinion once I get them. Thanks again for giving me that detailed review on the DW's.

Have a good day!

Thanks Alan,

I'm really curious to see what you think of the DW's - and also how they stack up against the Toyo's. It'll be really interesting to get your perspective given your car's performance capabilities.
