There are a few E63s out there, but compared to the number of E55s, they are only a small fraction. I would think that this is because the E55 was being produced for more years (2003 to 2006 vs the E63 which was from 2007 to 2009 - only counting W211 of course). In addition, the E63 came in the "bad" economic time vs the E55 - not to mention, it was also a few thousand more expensive than the E55. This caused people to buy less and for Mercedes to produce less.

Once the W212 becomes more popular (especially with the twin turbo engine coming out), the prices for E63s will drop down to unprecedented levels, which may sway more and more people to buy them.

where I live, you will see a lot of S63 and S65 and trust me if I say, I see S63 sometimes more than the E63. Also, a lot of C63 over here in Abu Dhabi

I just got my 08 E63 and I gotta tell you it gets looks. And to be honest, I wasn't ready for that. Went to the part store to get wiper blades, crowd around the car. Stopped at Starbucks to get the wife a latte, drive through kid is all like "Is that an E63 AMG????" People look all the time, it catches peoples eyes. Not like a nice Vette or a Viper, as it's a 4 door sleeper, but people who know appreciate it. Frankly, I love it!

I think maybe it depends on what part of the country you live in. The E Class is like a Camry here in LA. And the majority of the public can't tell an AMG from an E350 (or a Camry ) Only real car enthusiasts know and even then AMGs aren't exactly anything that special unless maybe it's a BS. A plain old E63 doesn't cut it.

Oh sure, I don't doubt that's true. But up here, in the far northern suburbs of Chicago, you don't see many MBs, let alone AMGs.

Try living in Mississippi. I went to my mechanic (30+ years working on MB, Porsche, etc.) yesterday and asked him about installing a Eurocharged Stage 1 kit and his response was:

"We can do it, but you're the first person that has ever asked me to make a supercharged, V8 Mercedes Benz faster."

What can I say...

Mercedes S55 AMG
I live in NY, close to Manhattan, where it's full of cars - and you don't see that many AMG's. I've probably seen S63's the most, then C63 of the newer cars. I just saw a 2010 E63 today, first one I saw it person so far - nice! The E55's and older E63's you see only occasionally, too.

I've only seen 1 more S55 AMG like mine (01/02 with two exhaust before the supercharger) on the street, too. And a few S55 03+. Only 2 E55 before the bodystyle change too. (Before 03)

I do think the E63 looks a little nicer than the E55..that trunk spoiler and a few minor details make it look a bit more aggresive, plus those wheels too. (I'm talking about the pre-facelit E63)
