E63 buying delima- 2008 e63 which one?

So i have a piece of crap Jaguar XF Supercharged that is giving me nothing but problems. I have 11 months left on the lease, but am going to eat some money to get out of it. I am wanting a 2007-2009 e63 with low miles (<20k) because I drive 15k miles a year due to job. I am currently entertaining offers for these 2 e63s.

1. 2008 E63. Iridium Silver. P2, pano, black leather. 14k miles. Non-CPO as it is not from a MB dealer. price-$59,400

2. 2008 E63. White. Black leather. P2, parktronic, Pano. 19.5k miles.CPO from Mercedes dealer. Price- $63,000.

Which one looks like the better deal? White or Iridium Silver? I am leaning towards the white one, but do you guys have any opinion?

thx for the comment. I wonder how much the CPO really matters on a car with 14k miles anyway? How much wear and tear can there be with new tires put on it? Just brainstorming. Have to make my decision by tomorrow

RE: E63 Dilemma

I would take a run at both dealers and take whomever gives you the best price. For comparison, CPO adds 1 year of warranty which is worth about $2K. Monday is the last day of the month, so both will probably be motivated to make a sale, i.e. give you a good deal.

Good luck and post some pics.

'08 warranty (depending on in service date) will last you another year and a half...Guess it depends more on how long you want to keep it..??

judging from my previous ownerships, 2.5-3 years. I guess it really just boils down to color now, although I like the parking sensors on my jag and would like them again. Does the e63 have the back up camera in the p2 package?

No back up camera...I'm kind of surprised the silver doesn't have parktronic, but has almost every other option. It's definitely a nice feature. It's also funny when pulling out places or sitting in staging lanes when people walk right in front of you and car just starts beeping obnoxiously

it's amazing this originally 95k car doesn't come with a rear camera. I guess the engine makes up for it! It rides alot better than my POS Jag though.

You don't really need a camera. These cars have great visibility with no blind spots. And parktronic does the job just fine. The new one (W212) has a camera option since people are nowadays expecting those things.

I'd pick the one you like (color, options.) If you like the white one, at 19.5k I'd ask the dealer to do the 20k service free as part of the deal.

I'm willing to bet that the silver one also has parktronic. These cars normally came optioned with everything, except distronic.

As far as CPO, you can buy an ELW yourself if you think you're going to keep the car. Even if you don't keep it, the MB ELW is refundable when you sell. You'll have to figure the costs differences between you buying it and the dealer tacking on the extra $$ for a CPO.

But if you like the silver one and want it, then tell the seller you want to take it to a MB dealer for a ppi. Then ask that dealer what it would take to CPO the car. Use that info as part of your bargaining with the seller.

p.s., although these cars aren't Jags, and mine has been flawless so far, they are Euro cars so don't expect a Lexus experience as far as maintenance is concerned.

That is SOO true...I've had a bunch of dumb little stuff go bad (rear sunshade right now, front air strut and bellows, glove box pulley, etc.) but PP has always been great about getting it fixed quickly. Service B and a tranny flush will definitely take you off guard though It definitely runs like a champ now that my intake leaks are solved.!!! I'll probably miss it a lot more than I think when I sell it this fall...

I don't know where you live in the Metroplex, but which dealer is the CPO at..?? or I guess that should say which PP..?

So you're at 40k+? (tranny fluid is supposedly at 40k according to MB.) What's your mileage now? Did you buy new or used? How many miles did you put on if used?

Sorry for all the questions, just curious.

thanks for the comments. The silver one does not have parktronic. I am really bummed about that. That is good advice about the 20k mile service. I will ask them. I might ask them to throw in a bluetooth dongle also, as I hear they are 500 bucks or so.

If you can swing a few extra $$, you might want to consider a 2009. Basically the same car, but way better electronics (i.e., the COMAND system.) It's a hard drive based navi, built-in bluetooth, and upgraded (and good) voice control system. It's the same system on the new 2010 cars.

I have 16k on mine with all the options, and I figure for a quick sale I'd retail it at $65k (?) People like me were buying new leftover 2009s from the dealer last summer for big discounts. Dunno if $2k or so is worth the electronics upgrade and 1 more year of warranty, but it's just a thought.....

i have a lease i need to trade in, or otherwise i would buy your 2009. I don't see any 09s on autotrader for 65k. they are all 72+

Yeah, I hear you.

Sounds like those on Autotrader are pricing off the 2009 MSRP. The reality is that the leftover brand new 2009s were going for 20-29k off MSRP late in 2009. That's why I figured that 65k is an honest price for mine. But I suppose I could def get 72+ for it. I'm going to hold on to it, anyway. It's one of those things where you either sell it now with low mileage or just keep it. Plus I just renewed the reg (expen$ive here in CA) and put on some new PS2s last week.

Good luck and don't forget to post pics of what you end up with.

Nothing wrong with curiosity I am at 40,700 right now...I got the tranny fluid at 38 and change when it was in for Service B. I err on the side of caution and I changed my plugs at 40K, but that had more to do with troubleshooting the intake leak. I think the only possible maintenance I could get right now is the diff fluid.

I bought mine used in '08 with 18K (in service is 12/06) and not from an MB dealer, so I guess I'm below average. It definitely won't sell for a ton since I'll have at least 45K by then, but I got a steal on it anyways.!! I drive the crap out of it the first 6 months, I think like 9K haha. It was addicting, til I realized it was cheaper to buy a truck to drive to work then depreciate the hell outta my car.

Good find. And priced to sell. I wonder if it's factory CF or an aftermarket job? Didn't CF only come as a special option and with the P030 pkg on the W211s? I can't remember.....

Only thing odd is the seat cushion looks wrinkled up (esp with low mileage) Maybe some big ol' salesman had just sat in it....

p.s., yeah, I drive mine as much as I can. 16k since May 2009.

It oddly does not appear to have parktronic either...I have no idea about the 09 build options to that extent. If it's aftermarket, it's look like a really good job from the pics..!

The white E63 maybe a little better in terms of resale value since they are more rare, but essentially it is all up to what your personal preference

i think i have decided on the white. My past 3 cars have all been gray. Time for a little change, you know? I saw that 09. I want the pano roof. I think it looks good, the white body with the black pano roof and black leather!

The Pano is cool...I love looking out it...I hate it at the track (I've heard it adds up to 150lbs....) but it is a good option to have on your car...

check this out. Carmax of all places. Looks like it is designo also. Is that what the badge is on the door? Looks like some sort of flint grey. Might check this out while I am in Houston tomorrow

Yup, Designo gray, designo seats, and designo wood...That seems a bit expensive for an '07 though, but that's always been my favorite color...Gives me hope I might not lose as much as I thought I would on this car...LOL

fwiw, that's the SRS rear airbag tag.

It looks like designo graphite edition with corteccia interior(?)
