Found the one...2008 E63 pano + perf

I've been posting a few questions here and there but just back from driving what I believe is the one... 30K, CPO till 3-2013, locally owned lease buy back w/ all records. Cherry condition.

Here's the rub, they want $58.9K and say they don't really have any room, maybe $1K off... seems ridiculous to pay asking or almost asking for a used car. The original MSRP was $103K- has everything but distronic, i think.

So trade in on KBB is $53K plus CPO repair (brakes + tires + warranty), what's it really worth? Found a similar private party car w/ 20K for $58K, non CPO - didn't actually look at it but talked got pics, I'm sure I can haggle a bit.

What are these really going for when pristine one owner, non auction cars?

Extended MBZ warrant $3000 1 yr, $4400 2yr, can buy later but supposedly 20% more - how negotiable are these. Thinking I have 3 years already see about how it holds up and buy later?

Any advice or thoughts are appreciated....

You still have 3 years left, so if you're not planning to keep the car longer than 3 years, then I would skip on the warranty. However, if you're planning to keep the car longer than 3-years, then make sure you purchase the warranty.

i've said it a million times....cars are cars. there is no diff between an auction car, private owner or dealership. You can have varying conditions in all three categories. Dealers buy or sell these cars at auctions to either get rid of trade in's or to put on their lot and sell. I think alot of folks thing auction cars are all repos or something. The bottom line is to do your research. EVERY used car will have some issue no matter how small. O.K, i'm off the soap box. Here are some numbers on 07s and 08s that have sold in the last 45 days. Add 3-5k depending on the dealer markup and you will have an idea of what you could get one for. Hope this helps man.

My advice would be to find a "friendly" dealer that will get you something from the auction. Alot of folks will do this for a fee. I know guys that will do it for around 1K-1500 if referred. Here is one I found for sale in Houston as an example of an "auction" car.

2007 MERCEDES-BENZ E63 E63 - IRIDIUM SILVER 40,670 MI Buy Now Price: $41,000

Theres a list of 2008 E63s sold in the auction. Strangely they all sold out of Riverside California.

My friend in Houston has a 2007 E63 with 23Kmiles, Silver exterior and black interior. Still has factory warranty. He wants $50K for it. I can probably talk him down to $46K.

That's not an awful price for a CPO. Considering what a CPO could save you in that year. That seems like a lot of miles on a 2 year lease though...

i'd personally rather have an 07 in the low 40s and just buy a warranty and play around with mods with the extra money. Again, just do your research man. That price is out of control for what you could possibly get one for.

Thanks all, got to stay objective. Easy to get caught up with the "right" color, options etc but there is always another deal out there.

Just can't believe he said they wouldn't deal, maybe $1K. Claimed there wasn't much in there.

I didn't have time to hang out and grind away and wanted to noodle on it. They've had the car for over 30 days so I would think they'd be more flexible. Had another one on the lot with only 11K miles for $63. I think $5K more for ~20K less miles would be a good trade off but don't want the color combo and still think there asking is way high.

In this economy can't believe these are flying off the lots????

Probably not at those prices...See if it's still there after 60 days, and I bet they'll be a lot more willing to deal...

Un-CPO'ed I paid way less than that for mine over a year ago (about 18 months)

You may have asked him at the wrong time of the month too...meaning, it's the beginning of the month & he still has time to meet his quota.

I've never bought a car except at the end of the month, seems like dealers & salesmen who work on monthly quotas want to move cars more around that time.

I agree w/above too...that price is artificially high. Wait ~20 days and check back with your guy. I'd bet if the car is still there he'll want to move on it more than $1k. Otherwise keep looking.

Be patient, if you loose it another one is just around the corner. These cars are depreciating quite rapidly, the dealers know this so I would think that they'd be anxious to move it....
