Who can custom tune my TCU???
I'm getting my car back from the workshop tomorrow after a change of the TCU unit (got oil in it) and a change to the Blue Top solenoids in my tranny.
Now i need to find someone who can tune my TCU and get rid of the torque limiter in it. I'm willing to ship it to the US if someone can do a custom TCU tune for me. I know this is the W211 section, but i think there are more tuners out here then on the W210 section.
My mods are in my signatur list and Kleemann is not and option.
Thanks! Magnus

TCU / EGS Tune
I had mine done by Kleemann USA . They also raised the RPM limiter to 6800. For the most part it works well , But every now & Then , the motor lays down from the 2nd to 3rd gear shift real bad. By buddies ask . Hey did you step out of the throttle ?? on that 2nd to 3rd shift , I've got to capture it on video . It acts very close to what JakPro1 was feeling,in his video. Cheers _PTEngineering

Ok, thanks!
MB:Forever --> Any idea how much RennTech TCU is?
PTE --> Hmm, thats strange. Do you mean it limps on 2-3 gear? Or is it just a bad shift? Do you have a link to Jakpro1's video?
I heard that some of the tuners that offers TCU tunes out there don't change/raise the torque limiter in the gearbox, and that will cause the engine torque to "limp" the gearbox even with a TCU tune. Need to find someone that can raise or remove the torque limiter.
Should say that i have the EGS51 TCU module (probably in all the N/A 55 engines), and i think the torque limiter is way lower then on the EGS52 TCU (W211 E55) so raising it on a W211 might not be needed.

tuners have had nothing but trouble messing with the tcu on older ('03) cars so good luck and be careful on your w210!!!

I'm curious, why not Kleemann, they're supposed to be a very respectful company as well

Yeah I think there are 2 definitions of torque limits going on here.
1) When the 600/65 guys mod their cars and it unleashes near 1000ft lbs of torque, the tranny sometimes freaks and goes limp. Simple restart usually cures that. Never have heard of a 55 doing that. I am sure there is ONE lone wolf out there but it is ultra rare.
2) The 2003+ 55Komp cars are like women. Very complex and frustrating at times, but just so darn fun so we keep coming back for more. The car is always trying to figure out how much torque you need or what is appropriate for the situation. When stomping the car, it calculates how much torque is needed for the situation and if more than enough comes (which with modded cars always does) the car goes through processes to shut down power to limit that torque. Most of the time it is throttle body not opening fully or closing some but it can be a massive amount of factors from fuel to timing. ECU tunes work with that some but the tranny TCU is the golden ticket to fooling the ECU into thinking everything is okay.
My Kleemann tune is amazing and I give it an A+ BUTTTT, it does not raise the torque limiters very much IF at all. Just makes shifts more firm and punchy.
I know that a guy is currently working finding those maps on the TCU and once he does, look out. We will be cooking trannys left and right BUT HAVING SO MUCH FUN DOING IT.
Ole Nate in Kentucky had VRUS do it years ago (remove ALL torque limiters on the TCU) and actually said it was too much wheel spin and made him put some back in.
How fun!!!!
Again, this is for the 03+ 55Komps, the older ones don't war with us like the newer ones do.

Ok, thanks for the inputs!
Hmm,i got the car back today from the workshop after the TCU/EGS change, and i had a look at the TCU. And guess what i found? I know have the updated TCU/EGS52 (not 51). They said it was the right one for my car just that it was an updated TCU. Guess thats a good thing?
So i guess that means i can tune my TCU now just like you W211 guys The older EGS51 was not reprogrammable without removing the Eprom/Chip. The EGS52 can be reprogrammed as it is with all the parts left intact inside.
And regarding not going with Kleemann. I'll keep that to myself or PM me for the story, sorry!
