Want to buy a E55 but didn't feel that fast!?

So the dealer called me back and said they just went for a drive and it def has kick. They said maybe because of the Dynamic Throttle Response that I didn't get the full experience. Anyways Im going back on Monday for test drive #2

Any car with decent power can light the tires up in 1st gear on a full throttle downshift.
I've never seen people get so excited about the acceleration of a 4k lb 410rwhp vehicle.
Oh and just so you don't think I'm hating on Mercedes, my mildly modified 993TT can barely get out of its own way.

Mr hater,I wasnt saying our cars are crazzy fast,the op said the car didnt pull hard at all and my car under 70d out is useless in first gear.
I just trapped 118 in this 4k lb beast and smoked the hell out of a p-car tonight at the track.
if you watch the video closly you can see the traction control light blinking and its killer power and it shortshifted.
ps my car has more than 410whp, iwas trapping 118 with 460whp and 180mm pulley
the kid that just sold me his 168 pulley made 546whp and ran 11.0x at 128 so yeah I guess these cars arnt that fast with a few mods on them.
I just paid 420 bucks for my pulley and its going to get me a mid 11 second car!!!how bout that Ill make a new video just for you when its on there and another for when the meth kit is on.

disagree. Its a 4000lb car with a power sapping automatic and 500bhp. Its a quick car, nothing more.

Gear, weather , cooling pump
E55's can be very tempermental. My SC stopped working and I was lucky to beat an E300. Weather can be a HUGE factor as can gearing. There is a video just posted on this forum of a stock (sort of) E55 with 20 to 80 or so blasts (hard to tell). Silly fast and clearly would blow your M3 away and probably my E55 K1. Look at another E55.

Well you can disagree all you like, but I beg to differ. No car I've driven (and there have been a few decent ones in my years), deliver torque like this low down.
Sure some modded P-turbo's have great neck snapping power but only once the turbo's are spooled... the newer ones are getting better but still dont deliver like this drivetrain low down.
The fact its 4000lb and is able to provide this snap low down is emmense in my opinion... its not the best car in the world - far from it - but the bits it does well, it does exceptionally well.
So good luck to you and your opinion... why not try and smoke one next time in your S500 4 matic?

sorry boss, I know you love your car, but reality is something you should investigate.
yawn yawn yawn. So your modified 5.5L supercharged V8 vehicle runs 11s. And it beats P-Cars.

Not my car, nor did I run it at the track. Pretty standard combo. I think it was a 331 with a 91mm turbo, 9 inch rear blah blah.
The e55 is a decent car. I'm not impressed by the interior materials and I don't think they are anything earth shattering in stock form performance wise. When you begin to modify them, they make decent power, but so what.
I'm over the whole "lets go fast in a straight line" thing. I leave that to the 19 year olds with mustangs and camaros and apparently the E55 crew.
Neck Snapping? Not seeing it. I've driven numerous E55s, my father has an SL55 and I'm just not seeing anything that great about them. They have some decent low end torque, but thats about it.
I never said P-Cars are faster/better or whatever.
As for your lame attempt (and you won't be the first, its a consistent theme) to bring up my S500, I really don't get it.
My S500 is slow as molasses...and I couldn't care less. Its a luxury boat. Its slow and it handles like crap...shocking considering its a luxury car.
Furthermore, I'm mature enough to not need to race people at stop lights.
Amazing how so many professional, well educated, and middle age men can't seem to ignore dick measuring contests at traffic lights.

Has been given a clean bill of health when it was sold with 3000 miles, when it was serviced at 6000 miles, and when a seat air line came loose at 7000 miles.
Could it have a bad pump? sure. Does it feel like a 200bhp car? Nope.
Is it brutal in any way? Nope.

I guess you used to run the 180mm pulley then? Either way doesn't matter.

I don't have any grudges over a piece of steel and plastic. I just don't see why people are SO blown away by the performance of a stock car.
I was impressed by a 997.2 Turbo PDK in terms of acceleration (hate the tranny otherwise). An E55, yeah its quick but it ain't no monster/beast.
The topic of the thread is an E55 that didn't impress the OP. Seems my posts are VERY on topic. Your post questioning my posts is off topic.
My contribution to the OP is that if you're used to fast cars, an E55 may not blow you away.

They're BSing you. Dynamic throttle response? You'll get the "full experience" when they tell you they fixed the car (or that nothing was wrong with it) and you buy it from them and you find a bunch of other crap wrong with it.
The remedy of buying a new pump sounds easy (if that's the problem), but if they are BSing you already who knows what other problems they are hiding or ignorant of.
If you decide to go forward just be sure to take the car to a trusted MB dealer or independent shop and have them pull all the records and go over the car bumper to bumper.
