car hits rev limiter and wont shift on its own in M?
fact stock 06 CLS55 will not shift in M mode by it's self, it will hit red line n bounce
An other fact sevral members do not use M mode for races, or at the track as they can not time it right, due to it having a little delay when pressing the button to shift and thus bouncing off the red limiter. This has been discussed before...
It is a software thing i believe

On the flip side though I sort of enjoy beating the car in M mode because i'm able to time the upshifts really good to the point where I get it to shift between 6.2k-6.3k consistently.

I have since lower it and done throttle body. And a few other goodies are coming in very soon.
So if you have and 05-06 and it shifts your car is running older tcu software

On a more important note, i highly advise for any one wanting the M mode update, to use the quote above.
Tell your service adviser you want her to behave like a personal sex slave! you want her to bounce when you rev it

Dont tempt me...

Just walk in there and tell them you need a ball gag for your transmission. lol
it is a software issue not hardware.
2. If you do choose to use M and shift on your own, know that the shifts take .3 seconds, so I guess just plan ahead?
When i first bought the vehicle, i couldn't shift fast enough with M mode, because it would bounce off rev limiter in 1st all the time and wouldn't shift.
But now after a few months, I have yet to hit the limiter since. And i get perfect upshifts in M mode where in S i feel it shifts a bit short. just my .02

E55 Torque Curve :

from 1900 to 2500 rpm: rises from 650 to 700nm
from 2500 to 4500 rpm: remains at 700nm
from 4500 to 6500 rpm: drops from 700 to 510nm
So, you want to shift between 2500 - 4500 RPM
