fact stock 06 CLS55 will not shift in M mode by it's self, it will hit red line n bounce

An other fact sevral members do not use M mode for races, or at the track as they can not time it right, due to it having a little delay when pressing the button to shift and thus bouncing off the red limiter. This has been discussed before...

It is a software thing i believe

it used to be that 03-04's would shift on their own in m mode and that changed for 05 and up where they would hold their gear. with all the software updates and tuning going on there are now some exceptions to that rule.

This is weird because in the ~30 k miles that I've driven mine, it's never upshifted in manual. When i hit the redline which i used to do often when i first got it, the selected gear indicator (to the right of the odo) changes to a "^" as the car bounces off the redline but never will it upshift. As stated before it will downshift when the gear is too high for the current RPM (ie around 1k - 1.1k RPM) and kick down switch is useless in M-mode on my car. My car is still stock and as far as i know only has recent dealer updates.
On the flip side though I sort of enjoy beating the car in M mode because i'm able to time the upshifts really good to the point where I get it to shift between 6.2k-6.3k consistently.

my 2006 CLS55 in stock trim shifted at redline in m mode. I have mad it a point to start every race from a dig in M mode in 1st gear I don't touch anything except the gas pedal from there on out.

Here are some pics of my baby.

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...rent-body.html

I have since lower it and done throttle body. And a few other goodies are coming in very soon.

okay so 03-04 cars shift and 05-06 cars don't from the get go,but some do if they have a software update. What really weird is my car had tranny work done right before I got it and the said it has all the latest updates on it.

So if you have and 05-06 and it shifts your car is running older tcu software

What you are describing is S mode, M should not do that. Get it checked out by a proper dealer, that know about AMGs

M is for when you want COMPLETE control. Think, the difference between a cheap hooker and a personal sex slave. Eventually, you'll go too far with the hooker (S) and she'll tell you to stop, but the sex slave (M) has a gag in her mouth, so no matter what you do to her, she'll let you keep going, even if it means you're gonna **** her to death.

Get it?

No i don't , please go into the details

On a more important note, i highly advise for any one wanting the M mode update, to use the quote above.
Tell your service adviser you want her to behave like a personal sex slave! you want her to bounce when you rev it

mine is 2005 and it used to shift by its own, but after i tuned it it doesn't, so it is a software thing, same as some cars wont shift from steering paddels if they are on S or C. but they are functioning when they are in M mode.

it is a software issue not hardware.

I want my car to shift i have to much power and the stupid slow e55 tranny wont shift fast enough in m.Say i want to take fist gear to 6k impossible with out it hitting the rev limiter.it takes to long for the car to shift when you hit the paddles and bang you just pegged the rev limiter.

1. If you're just going in a straight line leave the car in S, the tranny knows what it's doing better than you do.
2. If you do choose to use M and shift on your own, know that the shifts take .3 seconds, so I guess just plan ahead?

Is the shifting time faster with the 7G-TRONIC tranny?

When i first bought the vehicle, i couldn't shift fast enough with M mode, because it would bounce off rev limiter in 1st all the time and wouldn't shift.

But now after a few months, I have yet to hit the limiter since. And i get perfect upshifts in M mode where in S i feel it shifts a bit short. just my .02

Yes I believe 7G gives you faster shift times so less laggy than the 5 speed. Also, I agree that with enough practice you're able to get it right. However, to counter the short shift you mentioned, I select first gear in S mode and the car will definitely use the full range of the gear and upshift without bouncing off the limiter first. I just prefer the total control of M mode and just time it right. In regular S mode i've had my car upshift from 1st when only at 6k rpm. It only uses the full range if I have recently done a tranny reset or I select 1st gear myself in S mode.

I have an 03 E55 and was wondering when I'm in M mode, at what RPM should I shift to get the most power? (Meaning 1st gear I raise the RPM until XXXX then shift to 2nd gear and so on) Thanks

I have plagerised this from another thread : https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...que-curve.html

E55 Torque Curve :

from 1900 to 2500 rpm: rises from 650 to 700nm
from 2500 to 4500 rpm: remains at 700nm
from 4500 to 6500 rpm: drops from 700 to 510nm

So, you want to shift between 2500 - 4500 RPM

+1... The low end torque on this car makes it different than anything else. It's awesome

My car was stock and would hit the limiter in M mode. Don't know if the others have had an ecu update that was offered after I sold my car, which may explain the variation.
