Flat AMG Black Hood Emblem
Two questions:
1. Can someone tell me where to find a Japanese version of the flat badge that fits 07 E63?
I see some posted on Ebay, but the sizes are not specific for a novice like me. Here is a link to the style

The link states “perfect fit” for W11 (I have E63 2007), but the back seems too long and narrow for my car and I'm not certain the dimensions are correct for a "perfect fit."
2. Do you know where I can order a non-chrome grill?
I had my car at a body shop owned by my local MB dealer. They did not want to pain the grill black. I was told they couldn't get the black to stick, and the black would quickly peel off after the first rock chip.

It'll fit. They are Chinese, not Japanese.
And they are cheap looking, imho.
Do a search here for flat badges. And also for W211 grills. There's plenty of info on aftermarkets and how to paint them.

body shop is correct about the rock chip issues. Most people who i know get their grill painted once a year. Another good option would be to wrap the chrome part in some black vinly

It says it fits the w209 and I could tell you it doesn't. As far as the grille they probably didn't want to do the work. It's a very easy DIY job. The chrome needs to be sanded to make sure the paint doesn't chip. Some plastic spray paint and a few coats of clear at the end and you should be alright. Plenty of member here have done this work themselves.

What is the best quality for flat badge? I've have the white w/ pano and most of the flat badges are blue.

A second grill would be nice so I can return the car's original look...when it's time to trade.
My plan is to have carbon lip, black peripheral on the grill (possibly carbon for the look), and the flat badge. My local body shop didn't want any part of the job.

All of the ones I've seen on Fleabay are cheeeeeap cheap cheap imitations. Yes the nice quality one is blue around the edge like the stock badge but it looks great and is hardly noticeable (the color) when installed, unless you walk up to it. If you're that close, you'll pay more attention to the quality & detail than the fact it's not black as you're looking for.

06 SL65 / 97 993tt /11 Suburban/ 2012 GTR (AMG è la mia Famiglia la Bestia è la mia protezione)
Both are Ebay buys...quality was decent on both...the badge on the SL65 was a little bit more work to get fit...it came by itself without a surround and without the surround it was too small. I happened to have another surround/mount for another flat badge and we used that...but that meant we had to router off the attachment on the back of the flat badge I wanted to put on and hot glued it to the other surround/mount piece. I had my doubts but the shop I used (C2Designs) did a great job to make it work.

Most of the badges sold on Ebay have a plastic face. I ordered my badge a few years ago, paid about $100.. Its top quality though, OEM part with AMG engraved in the middle. Fits perfectly. Heres a photo.

I have had the enamel badges in the past and was very happy with their performance.
The cheap e-bay ones with plastic coating will not be as nice in time.
