03 E55K Ring lands
Is it true that 03 model E55k engines have piston ring lands problems when the car is modded and is making alot more hp at the wheels ?
Also do 03 till 06 models have the same engine parts like crank/rods/pistons
maybe some tuners can also tell us what they know or think since most of them have had these engines in peices

Any modded car can get broken ring lands if not tuned properly.
As far as the different years using the same parts, i have no idea but i don't see why they wouldn't unless there was an actual design flaw.

No answers for ya from me, but I can tell ya that both Chiromikey and myself have highly modded 03s with lots and lots of miles without problems. Interesting observation though that my car has always tested on the lower end of the piston compression scale so who knows. All cylinders same but lowwwww on the Benz scale of high low levels. That's why I gave up long ago hoping for 10s. Just not gonna happen for me.

Nope, I mean perhaps 1 quart in 10K, so for us, that's pretty good.
It's just been my experience that these babies all setup soooo different in piston compression numbers. Some are lower and some much higher. Makes no sense as they are all stamped out like a copy machine at AMG.
Coincidentally, those that test on the upper scale always tend to JAM in the 1/4 miles. Proven with Higginsbeach running near 10's with just the Kleemann sized pulley and ole Bassn_07. His compression ratio is top of the scale. 150ish on all 8.
I feel bad for guys that chase and chase these guys when they should just check their compression. If she is lower, the car just will never be like the other guys.
Just my personal opinion after being around here for quite a long time.
Sorry to hijack OP, this had nothing to due with ring lands.

Jim, keep in mind there are other factors which affect cranking compression, such as condition of the battery, plugs being removed from non-tested cylinders, throttle plate being open, and the one which really sticks out to me, mother nature. You are density altitude challenged (politically correct?), right. I would think that lower air pressure would equate to lower compression. As you pointed out, as long as hey are even, you are in good shape!

Yes, altitude makes a difference in compression. But like the above person said, if they are all even, or very close to the same, i'd say you still have quite a bit of life left in your engine.
