Forged Pistons Were to get them

Im looking to get a set of Forged pistons for the E55. I Did a search on here and on google did'nt seem to come up with anything. So if anybody knows were and how much i can get forged pistons for i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Also i thought i read on here somewhere that the SLR Pistons were forged and would work on our E55 Correct me if im wrong.

I'd do SLR pistons.

I just can't even IMAGINE how much they would charge for 8 SLR pistons.

If you guys ever get a quote, lemme know.

I would guess around 1500 per.

Aren't stockers around 800 per from Benz?

Call JE Pistons. They usually do custom pistons for ~$150 each.

CP just did some for mine so I'm sure they have the designs to make more. You need to order through a CP dealer though if I'm not mistaken.

Just remember mb cylinder walls are coated. If you find a drop in piston that will work for a reasonable price count me in for a set too

The stock sleeves are Alusil. I had my piston skirts coated at Swain to work with the bore material. I'm sure they can give recommendations on whether this is needed or not.

If I had to do it over, I would have resleeved the block and tried to shoot for 6.0L

Talk to RennTech, I believe they were able to get the SLR pistons (at least) a couple of times in the past for a few fellow enthusiasts

Most are Alusil. J&E does not make a piston that will work in an Alusil bore. The only piston manufacturers that have extensive knowledge and actually make pistons that work and last in the Alusil bore are Kolbenschmidt and Mahle. Don't waste your engine trying to make another piston work. The only other proven options are to cote the bores with Nikasil or resleave with iron cylinder liners.

I run wiseco`s and Nickasil coated bore.. Had to shim rod to piston clearance though. Wiseco and few others can not forge the pistons to the narrow piston to rod tolerances we need. My set up works well and takes a lot of abuse.. I now have 16K on my build.

CP would be a good choice, if they can meet the tolerances..

I prefer Nickasil over Alumisil..

Most rod companies will custom build them for you, just send a stocker.. Our stock rods are made damn tough and we have 6 bolt cross drilled mains..

Maybe I missed something here, but why do you need pistons?

I agree.

I dont even know if that includes anything too. Or if its just for the piston itself.

Yes that is the reason why i need to replace or over haul my engine. Cyl 8 Piston has a quarter sized hole melted through the piston trying understand why this happened. But needless to say im thinking maybe i can get the forged pistons & maybe a ported and polished head installed if the dealer is willing to do the install. My friend is my S.A SO this may work.

Unless your cylinder wall is damaged, just rehone the cylcinder and replace with a stock piston and call it a day. A set of Mahle or Kolbenschmidt forged pistons will run around $4,000 but they will work.
