VRP Hem Headers or Renntech Tubular Shortys
I know the debate, and I have read all related post. LT are not an option, so.. Which short header will make the most power through the entire RPM range:
VRP or Renntech?

Which one would you be proud to put on your car? Even if the VRP header made more power, and it might IDK? I'd choose every other header available on the market short or long, over the VRP headers. After seeing one of these headers first hand... It was a total mess. Is that a one time thing? Don't think so. My friend Josh had the VRP/Vadim headers for his C32 and they were total junk. So much so he returned them.. Then waited 5 months for a refund. True story.
Better options over the the VRP's are Kleemann, Renntech, Evosport, AMS, PLM Some of those may not be the cheapest, but you kind of get what you pay for.
On the flip side, There are people who have enjoyed the VRP HEM's and reported some nice gains. So its important to do some research.
As to which one makes for power, its debatable and chances are you would be debating 5hp or so.. Hope this helps

my VRPs are solid -- actually I think they are the ones from the photo -- I bought them from Jangy
I am assuming the renntechs are much more expensive - So, I would go with VRP --

I could only speak from experience and VRP gets my vote. Obviously there are downsides to that decision which one of them would be that their no longer in business. From a performance/cost aspect I don't think they could be beat. There are several cars on here that proved these Shorties’s perform on the track and not just the dyno, which to me speaks volumes. My car has done extremely well with these headers at several different tracks - Sacramento, Famoso, and Fontana. Once I went with LT's my friend Mikesamg's car has been tearing it up at Sacramento, Infineon, and Famoso with my old setup. His car is only a stage 2 and only trapped 1.5 mph’s under a stage 3+ which included ice and LT's. Someone also posted that another member had problems with VRP's setup but it's safe to say any manufacturer could have problems. Obviously it's the way the vendor conducts them self when these problems arise and since VRP is out of business it would definitely make it a high risk purchase.
From a price point VRP headers are definitely a bargain over Renntech shorty's and to be honest there's no way I would pay that price tag for what they are. At that point you could get yourself into a nice LT setup. I also assume you don't want to go with LT' because you don't want to sacrifice your stock exhaust which would also exclude Kleeman.

VRP with 168 pulley/tune and misc little things --- My friend is barely faster with his Super Sprint LT, HE&pump, 180 pulley and tune --- So, there is no problem with these little guys -- and its the best bargain --- but in the end -- its up to you -- as long as your changing the stock manifolds you will be VERY happy with the GAINS

I'd give my vote to RennTech as well (or at least Kleemann). The quality of their products are very high and they've been in the Mercedes aftermarket performance game for a while now. VRP, on the other hand, has been out of business and has left a few customers out to dry. I've heard of a few too many VRP manifolds having problems with not being manufactured correctly or having flaws. And although some of the headers have been produced well, some have been not been so fortunate (especially for the C32 platform). You can search that section of the forum for more info if you like.
Remember: you do not just buy the product, you buy the product with a company that will stand behind their product in case problems happen and will provide support along the way.

Hey roverron, its my friends shop so the labor is not going to be the same as anywhere else.I just hope he finished his ferrari engine swap to start my car today.
I was sold on the evo shorties but for the money there not worth it.You can get kleemann headers with test pipes to delete your primary cats and an ecu update to not get a check engine light for 1500.You cant beat that and the gains should be very close to full LT headers.
I got lucky and picked up a brand new set with ecu update for 1k
