Calling BS on MKB's 1000hp SL65BS!! What's your take?

They claim to have produced 1000hp with 960ish ft lbs torque THEN claim the car does the 1/4 in 11.1?? OH and 0-60 is .2 secs faster then stock.

A 1000HP CAR ONLY DOING 11.1!!????

Ummmmmmmm, okay

Article here.

The trap speed is the measured "instantaneous" speed of the vehicle at the end of a 1/4 mile run.

Here's a fun calculator to play with.

Your worst nightmare...
I don't know, but 1000 HP could sure muster something way better than an 11.1 either they can't drive or they can't stick that monster to the pavement.

Hmmm..... MKB is a fairly reputable company and should have the capability to tackle such a project. I guess it's possible to reach that kind of power with upgraded turbos although translating that power to the ground is a whole different story.... but then again, I would've also thought that even if they had feathered the throttle, they would've been able to get (at least) into the high 10s

Very interesting article.....

I have about half of that and I have a hard time getting traction with street tires at Sacramento. When I had the VR600 in was able to hit 11.5's at 123-124 on street tires but now that I have a few more ponies and a better street tire setup I still haven't hit 11.5's. Basically with more power to the ground I'm running slower than before on street tires. All though I am trapping 7-10 mph faster at the same track.

i can't imagine a company like mkb adding almost 350hp to an already powerful car and charging $150k for a package that doesn't even include r compound tires...but that's the only thing that can explain such dismal numbers (if you accept their claims). one would think they would at least have tested on better tires and threw out a disclaimer if they felt compelled. otherwise it just reminds me of all the youtube dynoqueens that are floating around nowadays.

0-300 numbers are more impressive than anything else. Making it less than 1 second slower than Bugatti Veyron!

MKB SL BS 0-300: 21.5

Bugatti Veyron 0-300: 20.7 (from recent Sport Auto high speed test)

It's possible. If they are running on street tires and cant get traction 11.1 is definitely believable. Anyone know the trap speed? Lets not compare cars on drag radials or slicks to street tire cars. It's a whole different ball game.

Look at the following:
0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds
0-200 km/h in 8.9 seconds
0-300 km/h in 21.5 seconds

The 100-200 km/h is done in 5.3 seconds!! Umm... I think that is pretty fast, no?? Not a good indication of 1000 horses??

Yeah that must be it. Must have had a tough time hooking up and also getting that 0-60 time. Once it's movin, it seems pretty impressive.

Been doing some more reading this AM and the MKB guys said they had to roll it out at some weird international drag race at the Hockenheim. They said they were kinda clueless about "racing the 1/4 mile" as they put it.

Funny how much we focus on 1/4 times and most of the world really doesn't care.

I was at Hockenheim that Saturday most of the day, but I did not see them run this car. I did see the car though. Over here it seems it's more about how fast you can go on the autobahn.

How cool would that be!!?

Yeah, I read that they matched it up against some "modded American muscle cars" and they all were astonished that it beat them.

Then they go on to say that the car only uses 1st and 2nd in the 1/4 mile.

Back to ummmmmmm, okay? again.

Article here.

The car sounds great and all, but that 213km/h trap speed is very disappointing. 1000HP in that car should trap well over 133mph.

What baffles me is how the car can have more HP than TQ. It is never that way in these F/I vehicles.
