New aftermarket system installed and already got in trouble
Well I finally got my aftermarket system installed in my E55. All I can say is that it sounds sick. I replaced all speakers with high end alpine speakers, tweeters and have them been pushed by an acoustick amp. I then added a huge sub, namely Alphasonik 12" 2200 rms watts. That beast weighed in at 45lbs and had a custom wave box built with a port. Pushing that moster is a 5000 watt class d single channel amp. They also added a nice farad cap to prevent extra draw on the battery.
I will take pics of it all when I get a chance and take a video for you guys to see how hard it knocks.
I went with an alpine head unit and it fits right at home in the dash. It is simply an electronic library that controls ipods, sirius radio and FM radio. I cant wait to show you guys
I was playing around with it in my driveway with all windows and doors closed, my wife came rushing out and knocked on the window. " What the hell are you doing, you woke up our son with that stupid base" were her exact words.

The sub is in a box so that I can move it if I have to. They built the box to the strut tower walls so it is a tight squeeze. The headunit does do 5.1 I believe. People that are not familiar with the head unit have no idea how to use it

not sure how they wired it, I will ask and find out. I think they re-wired everything though if I am not mistaken.

if that watt rating is just near to real, you will not have enough of a CAP

1. You can fit 2 bodies in that trunk wanted to keep it that way hahaha!
2. Wanted something no one else had (or very few people this was over a year a go).
3. Wanted something trick looking, that had NO RATTLE from the trunk (mission accomplished).
4. I didnt want HUGE bass that rattles teeth, I wanted to hear the music and the words (again done).
5. Didnt want a 45 pound sub, 60 pound box and all in the trunk (car weighs 4500 or so without it)
6. I didnt really need the rear seat belts anyway...
7. I saw a CLS in a car audio mag had 3 10s in the rear deck looked amazing.

By the way I had the Dyn Audio mids and highs in my car 8s in the doors, 4" and tweets in the kick panels.
My goodness I loved those.
Can I tell you, anyone that wants REAL car audio gear, please buy Dynaudio. They make Alpine, JL, MBQ and any more you can think of sound like tin cans.

Well I am looking forward to his install pics. I love seeing new installs. I wish more people would do installs in there cars. The E55 is an fairly easy platform to get great staging and imaging.
