Fidelity Warranty Services
I bought my E55 about a month ago and it had an existing Fidelity Warranty on the car. All I needed to do was to pay $40 to transfer the warranty over to myself. After reading the warranty threads here, I was a little skeptical about claims submitted to them.
Fast forward to last weekend. After a Friday night out, I came home and my sunroof would not close all the way. Upon closer inspection, it seemed the left side would stop @ 3 inches from closing and the whole cassette would retract. I put my car in the garaged and covered it up until I could call my local Mercedes dealer. I called them on Monday and took her in for an appointment later in the afternoon. I also told them to check the weeping on my oil pan.
I get a call from my SA on Tuesday afternoon. The bracket on my sunroof is cracked and that is covered by the warranty. The oil leak is coming from the rear main seal and that too is covered. They also found a torn strut boot that will also be covered. However, due to the amount of the repairs, Fidelity will be sending an inspector to review the repairs. I get the report this morning that all repair will be covered, except one of the brackets on the sunroof. The broken left bracket is covered, but the right side is not as it has not failed. I could wait for it to break and it would be covered, but I told my SA to go ahead and fix it anyway. I don't want my sunroof stuck in the open position again.
To recap, my experience with Fidelity has been good so far. They have been fair on the repairs. The only thing is it take a little longer to get things done as they will send out an inspector to make a report before repairs are done. All in all, the repairs Fidelity is covering is @ $1500.

I have limited experience ...
with Fidelity on MB. I do have lots of experience with them on BMW, and it has been very fair. No extended warranty company is perfect....but they do a good job.

I have Fidelity on my SL600 and it's been outstanding. But you're right, any repair over
1000.00, they send an inspector. It usually delays the repair by 1 day. I have their Platinum level coverage w/ $100 deductible.

The next issue is my electronic trunk release/close. Does anyone have experience with this? My trunk closes really fast, almost hatchet like. Is there a remedy for this?

Has anybody extended through MBZ?
My original MBZ factory warranty ends in March 2011, looking to extend but through the manufacturer.
Any experience with MBZ and if the extended is just as good as original ?
Thank you

But the prices are all over the place. Be sure to shop the dealers, it seems there's a big markup. There's woman up in Chico CA (Courtesy Motors) who's selling these at pretty good discounts. Her name is Lisa. I'm bouncing a dealer in Santa Monica off her prices and he seems willing to go lower, too.
But I don't think the MBZ warranty will ever be as cheap as the aftermarket ones.

fwiw, if I keep my car I'll probably buy the MBZ ELW. It's the same as the original just extended to 3 more years or 75 or 100 (depending on which you pick.) Plus you're not stuck with it (refundable.) No questions asked at the dealers, and won't go out of business, etc..

I was not aware the extended warranty is 3 years, I thought it would be at most 2 years, which is great news!
My original ends in march, so I need to start shopping around in the next couple months. 3 years or 75/100K miles is great!
What is the price range you are getting for the extension?

I communicated with Lisa some time ago and she quoted $4400 for 7/75. My local dealer quoted $6800 back then. The latest I got from the Santa Monica dealer was 7/100 at $6600 and 7/75 at $4900. That was last week. He also said he'd match any other prices. PM me if you want his name and contact number.
I didn't contact Lisa again, but I just now found this post: https://mbworld.org/forums/4212826-post45.html
Don't know if that's true but maybe she's no longer.......
Here's a pdf of the MB ELW.

Thanks for all your help, I will be looking more in depth in the next few months. I'm currently sitting on 37K miles (13K miles to go, which is much more than I'll be driving in the next 6-7 months), and the original warranty isn't up until March, so I have some time. I will start scouting for prices towards the end of this year.
Thanks again.

I think I'm favoring cancelling my MBZ additional 2 years of CPO and replacing with the Fidelity Platinum 6yr/72k coverage. I get three more years in case something major breaks. Thoughts anyone?
