I just missed the Chrysler cut off so am now without. I shopped for another aftermarket warranty and found many fishy companies in that game. Direct Buy was very inexpensive but has loopholes in their contract big enough to drive a truck through. Fidelity seems to be legit but priced so high that I'll take my chances.

if you have an indy -- i think you can manage without a warranty --
I know I have racked up a huge bill with my warranty but that is because they cover everything and make me take the car to the stealer -- who also steals from Chrysler --
I think if I took it to an indy and did the necesssary repairs it would be 40% of my current to date repair bills.

CPO warranty expired two years ago and have been running without a warranty every since. Only maintenance and a few minor repairs that I handled myself.

I'm still on the original MBZ factory warranty til March 2011.
I'm planning on extending through MBZ's extension options. Has anyone extended through the MBZ? What option did you choose and how much did you pay?
I am looking for 4/5 year extension and/or 75/100K. I am going with one of MBZ's extension option, and no aftermarket warranty; just too many scams and loopholes in those.
Also, what does everyone mean when they say "Chrysler cutoff"? Did they stop offering extending warranty for the E55?

Got a 5yr/70k mi warranty on my 07 s65. If the engine blew it would be a total mechanical loss. Insurance doesn't cover that so you either spending 100k on a new engine or paying 100k (your note) down driving nothing for 5-7 years.

Looks like this thread has run it's course with 56% of the peeps not having a warranty. Very interesting as I thought it would be the other way around. As these cars run out of warranty and get older no one will qualify for one anyway.

I dont have a warranty at all and though I have a few hook ups thru friends that work at Mercedes shops I am VERY scared! If I hear one little noise I turn the music down to listen again... However I never baby the car and my traction control is on when I leave the garage with "S" mode on and Sport mode II in full effect! I make a point to get sideways whenever I can as well as bash any BMW I see on the road.
In summary im crossing my fingers as I was lucky enough to even get the car and dont have the funds for a warranty like those middle and higher class folks that normally buy the car. I was just a poor dude from west seattle coming in with dickies and house shoes to purchase my first Benz.. So far I replaced the IC pump myself when it went out $175 I needed new tires from gettin smokey on these BMWs $500 I had some weird *** battery module go out which fried my electrical and my Alternator. $1000 total for battery, module, Alternator and diagnostics to find all those problems. When owning a Benz it's "who" you know and what you know.. not only that, when owning a w211 E55 it seems it not a matter of "IF" its a matter of "when"
But BASHING anything on the road makes it worth while, so if you see an all stock, no tint, no rims, bone stock silver E55 in the Seattle area, its me and im ready to get sideways anytime!

Like any Euro performance car, these cars were expensive to purchase new. Like any expensive Euro performance car, these cars were expensive to own.
Like many expensive Euro performance cars, the purchase price on the used market has dropped dramatically from the original MSRP.
But like any other expensive Euro performance car, the cost of ownership has remained high.
Expensive cars with high original MSRPs but with low resale prices are still going to be expensive to own. That part of the expense doesn't change.
It's not rocket science to understand that.
