If someone wants to mod their car, so be it. EVERY single person here that has done the TB mod has reported back with positive results. EVERY one of them. Every little bit helps, even if the TB shave was worth 10hp, 10 here, 10 there, it all adds up. It is worth it to some, perhaps not to others, but there is no need to knock what you have not even attempted.

There are those that believe tires/wheels will never improve handling, a dyno is not representative of mods, that more airflow does not matter, that exhaust is a waste, pulleys are not proven, etc, etc, etc, etc. There will always be those in one those camps.

No if you get the CORRECT 80mm TB it happens to be 80mm

and you make some mighty big assumptions on what I have and have not done, to my 55 or any other car I might be involved with. (Love your edit, you originally claimed that I'm stock... Don't be so sure of that)

I know what works and what doesn't work, nothing special about the E55's motor, it's just an airpump just like every other motor...

+40hp is a HUGE increase. even half that would be a nice gain. curious to see actual results. wonder how much of that is related strictly to the tune

I love how everybody on a forum thinks they are the expert on YOUR car. People are either not reading or not getting it. Like when someone tried to tell me my car did not get a 42whp gain from the bolt on of the Nameless headers, despite the fact that I dyno'ed it, rolled it off the dyno, bolted on the headers, and re-dyno'ed within 3 hours on the same dyno with the only change being the headers. I am not claiming a ported TB made 40whp. I am saying that the combination of the mods I added over the weekend "feel" like a 40whp..or rather should I say 40wtq, since you can't "feel" hp as hp is just a math equation, while Torque is a force. I will dyno on saturday and let you know how accurate my butt dyno is then.

The OP makes a good point, and I think the critical responses aren't acknowledging that he's simply stating "hey it feels like X". A lot of things can make a vehicle "feel like" it has more power, even when there isn't any (e.g. Sprintbooster).

The responses are correct though (IMHO) of the technicality that injectors should net zero HP or TQ gain if your prior AFRs were well tuned (and sounds like they were) and if the injectors weren't a major limiting factor for the applied fuel/timing map. Maybe a tiny bit of HP up top, only if the injectors were a fueling limitation with your other mods - but 40 rwhp would be unlikely. Same with plugs - might make the car run smoother, feel better, but if the gap and temp range are the same as stock, should have no material difference on power/torque. The shaft grind? Maybe a couple hp or few ft-lbs, but probably not many. So, we're left with the new tune - which is the "X factor" here, and could be the major difference in both "feel" and actual output.

Do you datalog? If so, do you have logs of timing and fueling during WOT?

You need to go back to the track, you might be able to get it in the 11's now!
Good luck.

Will probably go either this or next Wed. Want to get a trans flush done before I go as it's shifting a little rough. If I can cut 1.7's on my 20"s like last time out, should go well into the 11's

hey there, i'm doing a similar set up as yours, but I'm not going with a 185 pulley, doing the s/c pulley when it's released. would you recommend i got with the colder plugs on my car as well?

Well, I dyno'd before and after my EC injectors and I LOST 8whp. Granted, I can say that it's the difference between one day and the next so 8whp is nothing...but it only proves what I've said since the beginning that no one here has GAINED 20-30whp by installing injectors. If they gained anything at all it's because the tune changed towards being more aggressive, but it's not because of the injectors.
