Being from So. Cal. you're obviously do not know that area. That "crappy" area still has avarage home price at $1mil in today's crappy market (it was $1.6 mil during peak of 2005). There are also a number of multi million $$$ homes there and several mansions. The "problem" is that there are more expensive cars there than home garages can accomodate - tells you something about wealth of people living in that "crappy" area too. People leave cars overnight not only in their driveways, but sometime on the streets. Granted this area is not what it was 10 to 15 years ago - "squeeze" is taking place like in most places in Brooklyn, but it is still up there. Only in "crappy" areas like these people steelling wheels can find such wide "selection". Yes I'm biased, I'm originally from Mill Basin.
As far as "protecting" wheels. If they realy want them - there is nothing you can do. Worse, they can pull a gun to your head and take the whole car. That is the main reason I moved from a big city. S..t can happen anywhere, but the smaller the place - the smaller the chance.

IMO any area where wheels are routinely stolen, no matter how expensive the houses are or once were, is a crappy area. The nice areas here have patrols, police coverage, or are in gated communities. Sorry that offends you if you live there or are from that area, I meant it as no personal attack. $1M houses are a dime a dozen in So Cal, but being from NJ/NY you obviously do not know this area.

Mill Basin has some very expensive houses with underground 20 car garages (muti million D) .... and you cannot control thugs who come into nice areas to do their dirty work...

wheel lock question
Hey guys,
I have two mercedes wheel locks on my amg 19" wheels but i recently purchased a set of aftermarket locks from a local shop to go as a third lock (i recently had wheels stolen of my old car so i take precautions)
the after market lock i got was imported, non name brand, but looked good.
My only problem is that i noticed the lugs were a little longer then factory.
The locks dimensions were 14 x 1.50, and i know most gorilla locks for our cars are 12x1.5.
the guy at the shop said that the locks are a little longer then oem, but he said longer is fine, when they are shorter its a problem. He installed the locks and the car feels fine.
My main concern is that this dimensions of this lock is too long for my wheels and can potentially risk not holding the wheel in place tight.
can someone please elaborate if this is concern or not.
