Pano Roof: would you purchase again?

Depends how long you keeping the car..... I heard horrible stories about replacing those Panos, like $4K if anything goes bad...

I have mixed emotions about this, yes its heavy, but also unique. I'm not a sun worshipper, and I had a black E350 and the sun used to beat the hell out of me. You could feel the heat coming through the thin fabric shade. The AC was working overtime to cool the big greenhouse effect down. At night it was cool to look at the stars on occassion. I don't think that I would buy another car with this feature. It is expensive to replace, especially after the warranty has expired. But it's your call.

You can get glass roof/pano roofs on all kinds of cars now so I feel like the unique part is not as big a factor now...A CF roof option would be pretty cool, at least on the C...

Love mine and use it all the time. Would definitely do it again. To date, no squeaks or rattles.

Living in hotlanta I find the solar panel option (only available with Pano roof) very useful and it keeps my car cool when parked in the sun. I've only had my car a couple of months, so it's been too hot to use the pano roof in the south over the summer. Looking forward to using it this fall when it cools off. Cosmetically it looks very good on silver as others have noted.
When I started looking for E55s, I had this as a must have option. However, after looking for many months I dropped this requirement as I thought I was being too picky and that it would take forever to find a car. I did, however, still want a car with plenty of options. Luckily I found a fully loaded 2003 that had the pano roof, rare solar panel option and many other great options.

For me, must have.....
had it on my E55's and my 63. Wouldn't buy one withut it. I find this talk of exra weight hilarious on a big boy like this. Just me I guess.

Without question, yes! It looks great on my silver E55 and, most important, my 5 year old likes having his own sunroof in the back.

There are a lot of pro's and cons with it. Initially I didn't care for it, but when I chose White as my new car's color, I knew the Pano would just set it off. Now when I see White W212's without it, they look much "cheaper" to me, just not as hot.
From inside, you don't really get much effect from it in the front, or at least not much more-so than a standard Sunroof. From the back I'm sure it looks great, too bad I never have anyone in the back of my car really.
Oh, and yes, the 212's have a 1-touch close feature, I'm frankly shocked that the 211 doesn't, that's gotta be annoying.

Interesting question. I never use my sun roof except to air out the car after sitting in the sun. I just find the air turbulence annoying. Kind of interesting since I rode sport bikes for a long time. Therefore I would never get a pano roof, but I can understand the attraction for those that do.

I have owned 3 w211 cars. All three of them have had pano roof and solar panel. I could not buy one without it. The pano roof was the biggest selling point for me when I bought my first one in August of 02

I have the pano roof on my w212 and would defintely purchase it again. No noise, no creaks, and awesome for the kids. I have black on black so cosmetic reasoning wasn't what I was after. But all in all, YES i would get it again.

An overwhelming "YES" to the question from everyone. I agree, I liked it when I had Pano but was on the fence when I posted. Now I know I gotta get one again since I'm looking at white & silver, I agree the black roof sets it off nicely.

Once you get over 40 MPH or so, then it it loses the effect, and the jarring turbulent effect comes into play.
