Pano Roof: would you purchase again?
I searched but couldn't find much on this topic, so here goes.
If you could do it over when ordering or searching for your W211, would you get the panorama roof option again? Has it been worth it, and/or worth the headaches (if there have been any)?
My last car had Pano and as much as I loved it, it squeaked. Finding a new 212 or '09 w/out the pano roof seems nearly impossible.

I'm pretty ambivalent about it. I never use it, it's just kind of there. If I had the choice I would have elected NOT to have it (too much weight on the top of the car; not the right place for any extra weight.)
Mine hasn't given me any issues, maybe a groan or two when I twist the chassis a bit (like going over a rise on a driveway at an angle, etc..)
If I had to do it over I'd try to get a special order car with NO sunroof and just a full steel roof. Or better yet, a CF roof.

well- maybe its because my car is white -- but i would never get a white without it -- it would look like a cheap car ---same effect on other colors -- but more so on white.
I think it just makes the car special ---If you get 2 E55s together, your eyes will go to the pano not the plain. I would buy it everytime -- its the only option I cared about when searching for this car and that wouldnt change the 2nd time around.

My rear seats aren't really where they should be as you mentioned...I like to think of what I'm doing as a form of seat preservation and an excuse to not carry too many people in my car. You never know who you're going to run into on the streets (Not that I run people on the streets...as much these days. I jus save it for the track). I'm a tad slow so I need all the help I can get
My driver and rear seats are "strategically placed" inside the house neatly wrapped in plastic.

Without a doubt, yes on the pano! Luckily, I have not had any issue with it and I use it almost everyday. I've always thought of this car as a fat bottom girl and there is no way you are ever going to make a ballerina out of her, so you might as well enjoy the ride.

For me, I need sun and having two skylights instead of one gives me what I needs so I would get it again. Also, I get more compliments about the panoroof and solar panels than about the car or its performance.

I'd pass on the pano on a W212...100+lbs. is a lot, even on a 2 ton car when you put it up top...And the creaking when you flex the chassis is kind of annoying and there's nothing you can do about it...

I love it and my kids totally dig it in the back seat. Nice "wow" feature when going out with another couple too. I love you guys trying to turn these 4,000lb cars into dragsters. Total crack up. If you want to go fast there are so many cheaper and better options out there. So, no, I wouldn't strip the sunroof from my luxury sedan.

I have had 3 E Class AMGs, two with pano and as mentioned with a white car the Pano is a must.
As for the weight--- if I wanted a lighter car I buy a ZR1--- my W212 is a luxo cruiser and I wanted luxury items. A double sunroof is a luxury item IMHO and the black roof shows great contrast on white.

I wanted it, I got it, and it creaks.. I would get it again in a heartbeat. I even open it once in awhaile to see if the glass is still there. I agree with VIC.. if weight was a concern, I'd lay off the cheeseburgers, and buy a lighter car.

i love mine - only thing that bugs is that you can't open just one shade to tilt the sunroof.
no issues with mine either besides a creak when going up a funky driveway

I would look for one WITHOUT pano...my buddy's creaks and, yeah, the car is 4000lbs but adding an extra 5% to the roof makes no sense for an AMG imho...good for extra light but will save that for SUVs like the iS
that said, i cannot disagree that white ones with pano do look da bomb

oh - I never had a single noise from my Pano -- Another plus -- I dont need to worry about my sunroof shade going back under hard acceleration like non-panos.
I am sure all the ladies prefer the pano when they are passengers.

Re: Pano
IMHO Pano is a must have on a higher end Benz aka E55/E63. I would not say that pertaining to a regular E350 though. Neither my E500 or E550 had pano, but they were different character cars sold at a different price point.
It also really makes the car with a light colored interior. Driver, wife and kids are all smitten with it at my house.
I'm not sure what the actual weight penalty is on a W211, but my car runs and corners just fine with it. Lastly, for what it's worth I've never had any problems with Pano, I do have it lubed annually as part of maintenance service, it works perfectly and has never had any leaks or made unwanted noises.
