Newbie, I searched but I can't seem to find the answer to this question but it would appear either Berti or someone else could explain this to me. It seems easy enough to locate a 82mmT/B as it was produced in the years of the cars mentioned earlier in this thread. I get the fact the 82mm T/B doesn't match up with the inlet "snout" as it has been called on this thread.

Is the reason the spacer is being made for this upgrade because there is not a 82mm inlet that would fit or mate correctly? Or is this spacer designed to save the cost?

I'm asking because I am looking at purchasing one and they are saying it is bolt on plug and play. That isn't what I am reading here. Thx for your input. (I have had my car about a year now and love it.)

Thanks for your input.

The supercharger inlet (snout) does not have a large enough opening for the 82MM. The butterfly will not open, plus, even if it did, there would be no advantage to a larger throttle body if the immediate opening in still 74mm.

There is no plug and play upgrade in 82MM

  • The Supercharger has to come off
  • The snout machined
  • New bolt pattern must be accommodated with either an adapter plate (as shown) a bolt on adapter plate (not recommended because they leak) or new material is added (welded) and new holes tapped
  • Replace all the gaskets (SC to heads / Intake to SC / Snout / Throttle Body
  • Bolt it all back up
  • Change "Y-Pipe" to accommodate larger TB
Done

This is a big effort and cost some $$, the least of which is the actual throttle body. Unfortunately, its not a matter of slapping on a bigger TB.. as you can see.

In my opinion, this mod should be down on the list:

1. Heat Exchanger / Split Cooling
2. Pulley + Tune
3. Headers

If you need more after that, come back to 82mm

Did you have to switch your TB wires around like Eurocharged suggest? 1 to 4 and 5 to 6?

Why would an mb tb need the pins to be switched to work with the mb ecu?
Can you tell me which ones?

It depends on how they mount.
Which cars they come off of.

We are talking about the wiring here, right?

Can someone else confirm this, have done a few of these with friends and some came from s550 or others were unknown but were mb tb and all plugged right in

No need to swapping the wires with 82mm S550, its plug & play,,

I think wires swapping need to be done with "82mm Audi & 80mm SL55"....!!

No use using the 80mm as they are really 78mm inside diameter

From ameisenkiller @http://forum.amg-owners-club.org/pub...lklappenumbau/
Pinbelegung Fahrzeug = Pinbelegung alte DK A113 141 06 25 bzw A113 141 01 25

74mm Drosselklappe Serie: A113 141 01 25 bzw. A113 141 06 25
Pin 1 = Motor +
Pin 2 = UIP Poti +
Pin 3 = IPM Poti -
Pin 4 = Motor -
Pin 5 = IP2S Poti 2
Pin 6 = IP1S Poti 1
(Laut Zeichnung)

80mm Drosselklappe A275 141 06 25 bzw. A275 140 00 04
Pin 1 = Motor -
Pin 2 = IPM Poti -
Pin 3 = UIP Poti +
Pin 4 = Motor +
Pin 5 = IP2S Poti 2
Pin 6 = IP1S Poti 1

Pin1 mit Pin 4 und Pin2 mit Pin3 an der Drosselklappe müssen getauscht werden.

I bought an 80mm off eBay that came off the v12tt part # 275 141 06 25 .... I'm guessing from this post off of another forum that these are the pins I would have to swap...

I'm not sure this is correct
Laut Zeichnung = According to drawing
when I was using an MB 80mm part number A275 141 06 25
I swapped the pins 1+4 and 5+6
if you look up lowprofiles write up he says the same thing for A275 141 06 25 1+4 and 5+6

2003 SL55,2020 GTC ,2017 GTS sold ,2002 G500 Sold,2003 SL500 Sold,
I just did this on my 03 sl55 no switching wires ,welded ears onto snout,Drilled and tapped ,had a different snout with a larger opening which I got from Kleemann when I did an upgrade to the 78 mm throttle body still had to open that up as well as y pipe for air cleaners ,so far no issues, the 78 mm opened a different way and Kleemann supplied a wire harnes with the wires switched,as long as your throttle body opens the same way and its a benz tb you don't have to switch wires

So excuse me if this is a stupid question, but does the SC have to come off to remove the snout?

Looking into installing a oem 82mm throttle body i know i need a adapter plate but will i also need to replace the y pipes that go from the air box to the throttle body also would i be able to bore out my stock s/c inlet and what would be the max recommand size to bore to if possible 80mm or 82mm?
