Exclamation Car start problems even after crankshaft sensor replacement.

Replaced the crankshaft sensor. Once in a while on a cold start more often the car cranks but does not start. After 3-4 attempts it finally fires up. Any ideas what else it could be?

Sounds like the fuel system is not maintaining pressure.

Possible fuel pump or fuel pump relay. I once had the same but the car never fires up even after changing CPS, finally it was the fuel pump relay socket melted.

The fuel relay is at the trunk next to the battery, I got the socket melted so electricity is not going to the fuel pump.

Id connect a fuel pressure gauge to the rail(there's a spot) crank it and watch the pressure, sould be around 75 to 80 psi during cranking.

my car would take a few attempts to start and the dealership had no idea. i changed my crank sensor as well and no diff. had the entire fuel filter unit changed due to the gas smell recall at my expense of course and have not had the problem since. on a side note, my car was reading correct fuel pressure when i was having problems

How much did that fuel filter unit cost? Do you mean fuel pump?

Are their 2 fuel pumps? Is the fuel sender unit same or different thing? Confusedddd

I have the same problem in my CL and replaced the CPS. Problem still persists from time to time, how ever I have not checked the relay. I hope it's not the fuel pump (CL only has 1 pump).

Report back soon.

the car has dual fuel pumps on the passenger side and the fuel filter is located on the drivers side. the fuel filter is part of a whole assembly. when i took my car in for the gas smell recall and for the gas leak i was getting do to it, i was having the starting issue. i ended up having both the fuel pump and fuel filter assembly changed for $1600. could have done it myself and saved cash but didnt have time to do it. had it done 2 months ago and car hasnt skipped a beat since.

I couldn't take any photo for you cus my amps in place, but I found the part number for you. That is located at the trunk next to the battery, not the one at the left hanf side.

Here is the part number: A211 545 24 01

Hope this help

I am not sure if it is the case, but I was told because of the fuel pump is getting bad and therefore the relay overheat/melted. And that's why I changed the fuel pump as well. You can try to change the relay part first and see if the pump starts, then decide what to do after.

I just had the same issue. After replacing the CPS, no luck....
Turned out to be one of the Fuel Pump relays.....

409 dollars later, back on the road..... new relay and CPS and 3 hours labor included
