But in hind sight, one of a better decision I’ve made! Congrats to both!
So E55 is old school but still kool!

MB: E55 AMG, CL550, E3004M Cab + other makes :)
Why E55 platform? Guys? Just picking your heads for y’all thoughts. I’ve had my 2006 since 2010, I kinda stumbled on it when reading DuPont registry in 2005 and saw an E55 for like $80k and five years later I saw one on autotrader for $28k and figure it’s the only car on the exotic car magazine that I can afford! Lol
But in hind sight, one of a better decision I’ve made! Congrats to both!

These days it's just absurd bang for the buck, especially if you do all your own work. (Maybe not so great if you use a dealer haha). I didn't even know what these cars were until I started browsing for a new toy a few years ago. I new the SRT6 was a Mercedes motor so I started looking into MB a little bit. About 6 months later I picked up an E55 with a salvage title and 100k miles for 10k. Been crushing noobs at the track with it since haha.
But, one of these cars plus a couple thousand in mods is absurd bang for the buck. I'm still out running my brothers 30k CTS-V with a pulley and exhaust. Not for long I'm sure, once he gets that thing dialed in there will be no catching him but just to point out, if you are looking for a race car, or a classy car to race some times, the bang for the buck of the E55 is unmatched.

Plus, she likes the E55 for it's well-mannered appearance that does not attract too much attention. (she also likes red 458s and lime green huracans but hey, who doesn't like a nice AMG)

Supercars cat! I like that, started to take my build to the 1/4 track...I need plenty of seat time but fastest so far in the heat of July in Fontana Speedway is 11.7@117. I know it can be faster with cooler temp and more experience on reaction and 60’.

I don't recall how i came across the e55 but i loved the idea of a 4 door luxury car being as fast as a corvette. i was a couple years out of college in '08-'09 and was shocked at how quickly they had depreciated... could you imagine getting a 2015 e63 going for 28k right now??
I eventually moved into manhattan in 2010 and remained car-less for 8 years. i think that kind of retarded my taste in vehicles as i didn't really stay on top of the newest hot cars......the e55 was always what i wanted. I'd check ebay every now and again to see what they were going for and break my neck on the rare occasion i saw one in person. a few other cars popped up that i thought i'd want when i finally escaped ny but the e55 remained #1. for a while i thought the 335i was cool...but boosting the hell out of those proved they weren't as bulletproof as folks first thought. I loved the e39 m5 as well but prices have gone thru the roof in the last couple years. i briefly thought i'd get into an e36 m3 but c'mon 240 hp???
about this time last year it was time to finally start my car search in earnest and the e55 stood the test of time. there were no fatal flaws that presented themselves in the 10 years that past since i first wanted one and they've proven themselves to be relatively reliable. and as others have mentioned - theres no other car provides this bang for the buck

Beautiful w211, man. I plan to do some light mods for now - maybe a nice 500 rwhp to start....maybe you can share some insight in the new thread:

Same thought. Was looking at M3s, other stick-shift cars in a similar price range as a toy, but to be honest theyre all too slow.... I agree about the bang-for buck. Originally planned to get a more expensive toy but looking to buy a house soonish so not in the cards...
