LED license plate lights from JBSPEED

I couldn't wait to get proper shots, so I took one immediately after installation. I'm loving them.

Thanks for the quick, pain free service and shipping. Will definitely do business with them again.

I search a few forums and found a decent write up. Once I read that, it was cake. Before, trying to do it myself, was impossible.

You have to take off the trunk lining, the plastic cover where the trunk latch is, and the entire panel the license plate is bolted on to(outside panel). Wasn't too bad after it's all apart. Was easy to put back together, too.

Borrowed from JBSPEED's thread...

They look just like this. If it was just the bulb(festoon type), it would have only been two screws per light). This kit requires you to take out the housing as the LED lights are built into their own housing.

I believe it actually is a replacement of the light assembly.

LOL funny I asked the same question! I ripped apart the whole trunk and couldnt figure it out. Then realized the trim on the outside of the trunk has to come off, so I took it to the dealer to install as I didnt wanna mess with the paint on my car.

The install on my E63 was as follows as I watched the tech take it apart

1. Remove liner on the inside of trunk to release the harness from the back of the stock bulb module, once you remove the 5 wiring harnesses 4 torx bolts and a bunch of push pins, you need to remove the exterior trim.

2. The chrome trim on the back of an E63 W211 comes off along with a cover that goes over the license plate late area. It snaps on and off. I didnt see how exactly he snaped it off. But I do know he had to take off the rear license plate

3. Once that piece is off the stock bulb assembly can slide out and then the led assembly will slide in.

4. Connect LED assembly to the harness in the trunk

5. Pop exterior trim back into place, put on license plate

6. Put back in trunk liner

GOOD TO GO! Cost me $60 at the dealer to have it done

Pics look good, will definitely pick one up.

Wampa, it's easy to do if you have something to go by. Once you take the license plate off, there is a round headed screw that helps hold the panel together. Use a 5/16 nut driver, hold onto the top of the bolt on the outside of the car, and it easily comes off. After this, you can gentle pull and pry on the panel. It should pop right off, and easily snap back on when you're finished with your installation. Definitely do it. I would recommend these over just the bulbs themselves.

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
For me, ....

they were more involved to install than I thought, but worked excellent. Nice, white light.

Finally figured out how the chrome front piece comes off and put everything together, looks perfect, just what I was looking for. Got mine off of eBay...
