09 E63 Check Engine Running Rough!
Brand new only 3 weeks old, 340 miles and a check engine light came on. I had it detailed and spend 4 hours the night before cleaning it to have it for a nice drive today and take it out of the garage and then all of sudden it starts to sputter and shake violentlly and the check engine light starts flashing. Try to give it gas and it sounds like its choking from not getting fuel. My last car did this and I got rid of it...BMW now this....I hope its not a German thing...... I've read some threads about what it could be, coils, fuel pump, etc. I'll know tomorrow vehicle towed in already. Not a good start to the day. Anybody have this problem recently? I am in the northeast and I do not think temps have anything to do with it....

Just curious, where did you find a new 2009? What's the build date? (they switched assembly over to the W212 at the end of 2008, iirc.)
The car's been sitting for a long time. Be sure to change out the oil if you haven't already.
The dealer will get it going for you, probably an electronic glitch (sensor, etc..) These cars don't have any known issues other than common stuff like the CS sensor, tranny software hiccups, and airmatic issues once in a while.
Good luck and keep us posted.

It was actually at a long time friend of mines dealership and got a very good deal. I did have them change the oil and go through the vehicle. It was running great for the 250 miles I put on it. Good thing its just a spare car for me not a DD. I'll keep you posted.

Same thing on 07 e63
Running great for almost three years, suddenly check engine and rough idle, low power. I thought I threw a rod, but went in to dealer and they told me I had "bad gas" (ok, no jokes I know it sounds funny). I had just filled up at a BP, so maybe they are using Gulf water instead of gasoline now?!
I am still skeptical. Car does not seem the same, and I am wondering if there is a deeper issue here.

I have an 07 E63, and have just went over 30K with no engine issues. In the beginning I had a minor lifter tick, and have replaced both rear airmatic struts at different intervals. Other than those minor things, it has been bullet proof thus far.

Update: Computer checks out that it is a bad Camshaft Solenoid. One is on order due in today. We'll see if it makes sense and works. Basically the computer is not being told where the camshaft is and results in the erratic idle and lumpy throttle. I'll post up later with results.

Vehicle is back, running good so far. It was a camshaft solenoid and the magnet inside was sticking. Computer reset. This explains why when it was new had black exhaust tips. I figured the vehicle just sucked up more fuel but its because the engine wasn't properly monitoring air/fuel ratio. I would clean the itps and then the tips were black after a short drive. Now they stay clean after a good aggressive drive. This sounds like the right fix.

Well, I'm glad that cured your problem, now if I experience this, I know what the fix is.
