i dont have my keyless go key anymore for my 04 and the dealer said the new replacement keys wont talk to the older antennas on my car. he said i would have to update them and that would be thousands. is this true? i need help. and also, if anyone has a solution to this problem, who has the best prices for these keys. and one last thing, is it true that i cant buy an older used key off of ebay and have it programed. thanks in advance. if this is all true then other people might be in trouble as well

A lot of people who work at dealerships are morons. Troof.
Brand new key on ebay is about 50bucks. Depends how much the dealer will charge. (Call another dealer).

Because people are crooks. You're going to have to get a key through a dealer... It's the only way they will do it anymore. You have to provide ownership of the car with a government issued I.D. Just go to another dealership. Mine was around $300.

MB has to provide keys for their cars, no matter what year. As these electronic keys have been around for maybe 15 years or so.

I too have a new styke key. Your dealership is the only answer here for the key unfortunately. Tell your SA that they are full of *****.

Dealers are idiots most of the time bro. It's a shame we have to deal with them.

thanks to everyone for the help. i thought this guy new his stuff but i was wrong. its really annoying dealing with the dealership. i went to an independent once that only does mercedes and does a ton of work in my area but as soon as they said " we assumed your car had a V12 because of the exhaust " i was out the door.

Try to start the car or open a door without pressing any buttons.

Make sure the battery is fresh.

the key fob i have locks and starts the car but if i press any buttons it says key not recognized.

Who's your dealer so we can sign them up for the Stupid awards? I actually have 2 new chrome keys and one old one. Keyless go works perfect on all of them, plus I bought them from a local dealership for 190 each. This is the dealer's problem. You can prove it to them if KG with the old key works but the new one doesn't.

However, one of my backup keys was not working with Keyless Go at first. I tried at least a dozen times. I just needed to lock and unlock the car with the remote, then start the car manually with the "bad" key. After that, the keyless go never failed on that key again.

MB of Oakland. I hate them but it's where I go since I hate MB San Francisco even more. 190 was a sale price I posted twice here in the past with links to the online coupon. The coupon is gone now but I think regular price is 235.
