The CLK 16x7 forged wheels are done and back from the powdercoater. They were chemical dipped, bead blasted and powdercoated. I used my bathroom scale to weigh the wheels(stock, black double coated, grey metallic and clear coated) and they all weighed in at 13.5lbs each and look amazing. These wheels will bolt up and clear pretty much any M-B vehicle(excluding all 65 series cars due to huge brakes) and bolt up to a Crossfire as well with no spacers.

Tires are Hoosier DR's 255/50 16

I like those as well...found out about them after the CCW drag pak rears, which are 16x9 and a few lbs heavier, I think they are like 16 or 17 lbs for the rear...BUT the fronts have a skinny wheel tire option which I think evens things out and takes as much off the unsprung weight and rolling resistance from the front of the car...a good thing indeed

Yeah LM's are not super light--- my LM's on the GTR weigh 26 lbs (20x10.5) but BBS FI's are stooooooopid light.

Hit Flea-Bay they have remanufactured clk 320 16x7 goin for $150 ea (Note on SL R230 you need to have bolt holes bored out few mm & use an H&R Hubcentric Spacer set weigh about 1 lb ea but it's center weight not too shabby a wheel that weighs 3-4 lbs less per corner than a set of $10k+ CF Dymags.. (I'm buying a 2nd pair for fronts to really lighten this swine up!)

I weighed a bone stock rim, then weighed gunmetal(grey and clear coated) and then weighed gloss black(double coated) rims and ALL three weighed in at 13.5lbs. The originals were clearcoated which adds weight and my powdered rims were chemical stripped(minus weight) and then bead blasted(minus weight) and then powdered which equalled out the weights............even M-B lists them as 13.5lb wheels. Did you bore the hub out or something to get down that light?

Anybody have pics and specs(size and weight) of the CCW front skinnies? I can't seem to find anything on their website.

"Sal" URnext55 weighed his set @ 12.7 lbs too..
Mine aren't clearcoated, & I think this is why your finding differences in weight, I used a Prof Digital Scale vs...

You should keep the CCW's, they are a great rim and have proven to be fully reliable at the strip. I believe they weigh around 20 lbs if not a tad more but fit perfectly on my E55. With that said, I ordered the skinnies to complete the set but after weighing them with radials I was very disappointed. After my findings I decided to go with a bias ply tire upfront to help get some weight saving out of the setup.

It's very rare that I use the skinnies now unless conditions are ideal and a possible record is in sight, other than that I run my HRE's upfront. After Famoso this year the skinnies will be up for sale if you're interested. This will be my last Famoso event and regardless what I run I'll be done. I plan on painting them black to give my car a different look at the event, if you're interested and don't wish to have the rims painted let me know.

I just had my powdercoat guy weigh one of the stock(factory clearcoated) clk forged rims.........on his professional scale............and it came in at 13.8lbs.

PS If the rims weren't cleared from the factory they would oxidize and require a lot of maintenance and I don't know of any high production vehicle with polished(and not clearcoated) aluminum rims.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay to have them done?

Bro how much do the skinnies weigh up front??? that's the important issue, I am assuming the radials meant for the skinnies are heavy? if so how much is the combo?

I am thinking of getting the skinnies if I do I will let you know and get yours not looking to buy until next season as you know..if I do go that route. I am looking into the clk 320s as well...my rear drag pak is brand new NEVER turned a wheel and may be up for sale if I do that dunno yet

polished unclearcoated rims are out there and they are not uncommon...my CCWs are polished no clearcoat...in fact that is how polished forged aluminum wheels come - without a clearcoat

I have owned several sets of polished unclearcoated rims myself and know they exist in the aftermarket world. I stated that they do not exist on high volume production vehicles which is what these rims originally came on. The general public doesn't know how much of a pain it is to keep polished uncleared wheels clean and car manufacturers don't want to deal with the headaches and complaints which is why they clearcoat them.
