Thumbs down *****Vadim Special?!?!?!******

Hi Guys,

So I've been working on a special project for the past year or so and I haven't been posting anything as of now. But before I post the project thread I thought I should share something with all of you!

I am sure there are many members out there who were intrigued about either the VRP or Fedor Dezyn Shorty headers. I mean , I bought them because they were at a great price and from what was portrayed they seem to be a pretty good product.

I am not here to judge but just to show you guys what I found when I took out my shorties. You guys be the judge of what you see. Trust me, I am NOT the only member here who came across this issue.

Anyways enjoy... And this is what I would like do call... The VADIM SPECIAL!

I advise all members who own and still have these headers on their car to double check just in case!

For how long did you have the logs on your car, before they fractured at the welds?

honestly after about 3 months of use I had some exhaust leak; at first, I never bothered looking at them and thought it was just some lose flange of some sort. But afterwards I kept having exhuast leak. Not until about couple weeks ago when i "had" to take out my shorties I noticed this huge crack along the welds.

So basically I had these in the car for a year now since last October!

Then I find that to be a very flawed product. Are you planning on going with some long tubes now? Or what's next?

since no one in this industry makes any longtubes that will fit my car, I'm going a similar route as ExoticMetal! I'm getting custom made Stainless Longtubes for my car!

I will make a thread about this project build sometime this week! But just for fun heres a sneak peak of whats to come! This picture is from the initial stages of the build! See if you guys can figure out what it is! But anyways, I will have a full thread about it soon!

Trying to get everything done in time for Famoso!

Thin gauge steel and Bad steel will almost always lead to cracking.

Thanks for sharing! That's ugly. What made you suspect there was an exhaust leak? Was a code thrown or did you just hear the hissing? I need to inspect mine now. I've had them on for about 17 months and ~13000 miles.

Thanks, well I will have more updated pictures for the new thread by the end of this week! These pictures were taken about 3-4 months ago! Lots of progress since then!

And +1 on the headers, thats why I got a well-known local shop to make the LT's for me! Actually this is the same shop that is making the TMIC for me! They do very good custom fabrication and welding! I was definitely impressed by their work so I went ahead and started this project with them!

It all started with the exhaust leak. It was very quiet at first, you couldn't hear the leak at idle but when you go on the gas a little you can hear it. At first i thought it was a lose bolt or bad flange but even after re-tigtening of everythings i could still hear something. Since then I haven't touched it and just kind of ignored this problem...

Not until when I decided to get some Longtubes made and had these taken out... I found out there was this huge crack in the headers. Literally no jokes the only section of the weld that didn't crack is only about 5mm long which is the only part holding together that section of the header...

I believe they had two versions of this header, the first being prone to cracks as pictured.

Sorry to hear that man.... that is just terrible

That is why I warned people from these VRP headers - mainly due to their cheap quality and apparently some overlooked manufacturer defects. I've seen it happen on at least 4 of different sets in the past couple of years. The headers perform great if you happen to get one without defects and in good shape, but even then, they do not last long and eventually something like this will happen. I recommend going with a company with a solid reputation so that you can at least get post-sale support.

Dang Shango! Looks like it will be a race between you and I for quickest/fastest S55!

Sorry to hear about your headers... Why not go with the Kleemans? I know they are shorties but I don't want the hassle of custom. That's what I have on the way. I saw and heard them in person on another S55 and they were a quality piece IMO.

Maybe if your LT's come out the way you expect I can get a set from whomever builds yours.

that is sooo true i had the same problem, i was really suffering from his shorties. so i replaced them with a set of longtube SS. love them, really easy to install. took 5 hours to remove old ones, install new ones with welding to mid-pipe.

check my sig for more information.

Haha...what's up Q!!!

Yeah, I must say that headers has some serious quality issues. It's really too bad IMO because I always felt, and still do, that these headers have performed really well. Actual track time number and not dyno ones. As Mo stated before, these headers shouldn't be purchased due to lack of workmanship and quality of material being used.

I would honestly still purchase this same design if better workmanship, quality, and customer service came along with it. Just my $.02
