*****Top Mount and Longtubes WHAT?!
Hey guys,
I decided to post this thread in the w211 section because this is where most of the mod friendly members hang around!
I've been taking part in this project for a good 6 months now. I had a well-known local shop who actually does all the work on my car as wells as JikaJak's CLS55 (Fastest cls55 on dragtimes).
I would never take my car somewhere I don't feel comfortable with; especially with craftsman-ship and obviously experience. Well I can go on and on about this shop because people who run/own it are not only passionate about cars but amazing people to deal with.
So back to the main topic! I'm sure many of you have seen TOP MOUNT INTERCOOLERS?! SLR INTERCOOLERS?! all over the place, and honestly I have NOT seen anything proven on the track or dyno.
The shop has been working on this project full speed in order for me to make it in time for Famoso! So let me just post some pictures and do a basic little explanation on what's going on.
We got flanges CNC'ed for the surgetanks so basically making this a complete custom job we didn't want to hack up my OEM surge tanks. So We also bought a new heat exchanger specifically to work in conjuction with the TMIC! Anyways... I don't want this to be a big text thread so I"ll just post pictures!
If you have questions just ask and I'll try my best to answer them with my minimal automotive knowledge haha

That is some really good looking sstuff there ShangoAshe and thanks for sharing. I've been wondering how many folks were able to get this done on our engines. Quick question though- will you have to do any work to your hood to accommodate the TMICs or do they clear just fine as is?

Looks good! Thanks for pioneering new mods for the platform! Will the stock intake fit or do you have plans for that as well? And where is the map sensor moved to?

Relocating the intercooler cores to the top of the engine bay should help reduce intake temperatures, which helps maintain power and improves recovery time.
Nice work by the way. Looking forward to seeing the completed project.

Thanks everyone, indeed lots of time had gone into this project! Right now we are more focused on actually getting gains with this and making sure everything is in working order!
What I have on my vehicle is pretty much just the Proto-type! Or you can say that my car is the "guinea pig" for this project. So nothing is finalized yet; but from what I know the shop is 100% on making a final production product!
In the mean time for those who are going to Famoso will be the only ones to see the final product in person!
And considering I'm located in Canada thats most likely the only time you'll see it! haha
But of course when I do have time I will upload more pictures of the build!
If anyone else has anymore questions i'll be more than happy to try and answer them!
Once again thanks for all the awesome comments guys!

Meaning, no modifications were done to the hood to make the TMIC fit!

I cant wait to see the final product... I'm really wishing I could make it to Famoso now so I can see how that beast of yours runs.

Both these sensors will be located on the TMIC assembly but after the intercoolers!
