AMG considering the aftermarket segment
Last night, I chatted with Steve Erlichman of MBUSA in the AMG Private Lounge. He was hosting the chat session from the LA International Car Show. So I asked him a question "I have both an E63 and C63, so this is why I'm asking. Can you comment on whether or not, AMG is considering getting into the aftermarket parts segment? On stuff like carbon fiber front lip spoilers or rear diffusers. There is quite alot of money in these parts, and they are very hard to locate especially a rear diffuser for my E63" His response was "We're looking at it, but keep in mind that ALL parts have to go through the rigorous autobahn and nordschleife testing. Not to mention the crazy Quality hoops that we have to go through."
I told him, that I was looking specifically for a CF Rear Diffuser for my 07 E63? And due to the W211 E63 model years 2007-2009, alot of aftermarket manufacturers decided not to make a rear diffuser for these cars. And the few that did, there isn't a strong market, when compared to the W211 E55. And his comment was "We do offer the Exterior carbon package for the E63 AMG which does feature a rear diffuser, of sorts. It's not quite the aftermarket solution that you're looking for I'm afraid." So their maybe some hope for us E63 owners in the near future. It would be nice to walk into a Mercedes dealership and order a CF front lip spoiler or a CF rear diffuser for our AMGs.

As the demand increased the price would eventually decrease. I'm not saying that this is a perfect solution but its a start in the right direction.

Their is some intrinsic value to having the "real" AMG accessories on your car I think...To some people...Though I'm not sure who they are...Okay maybe there's not... Thanks Yuille.!! I haven't made a chat session in a while...

Yuille36 -Thanks for passing along the information. It's good that Steve at least listens and thinks about the end users, although if they go this avenue the pricing will be through the roof.

I am shocked you even got that much info.
I gave up on the last chat when it went like this.
"Any new models coming out or that you are working on?"
AMG "We can't comment on that at this time, but we are so excited about the future"
"Can you offer any information on the process of developing the new twin turbo engines?"
AMG "We can't comment on that at this time, but we are so excited about the future"
"I am sleeping with your wife as I type this. Man she is hot in the sack and speaks German at climax."
AMG "We can't comment on that at this time, but we are so excited about the future"

While touring the AMG factory last Thursday I saw quite a few vehicles getting customized. There were at least 4 or 5 Gullwings getting stuff done to them as well as carbon fiber trimmings under the hood. Most of the cars (not all Gullwings) were having interior changes made to them.

Part of the written agreement on the PL is that nobody cuts and pastes anything said there by AMG onto another forum or anywhere on the net. They don't want it floating around in public. That's why nobody can even read anything from the PL forum unless you're signed in.
Just sayin'.......
I'd just hate to see them stop feeding members any more info on the PL even if it is ambiguous. If it all gets cut and pasted everywhere they'll stop saying anything, period.

Sir, I certainly understand where your coming from. But rest assured, I have PL best interests in mind. I was just informing our members of a conversation that I had with MBUSA about aftermarket parts. This was just my question, this didn't derive from something that I read. Will it happen probably not. I can't see AMG remanufacturing old parts, now for the new cars probably.
Believe it or not, MBUSA also reads this forum.
