Inner rear tire sidewall rips

Guys,

I have gone through 2 sets of Vredestein tires in the rear of my car both ending the same way. The inner sidewall rips apart. The theadwear on the surface of the tires has been good so I don't think the alignment is wrong(correct me please). Is this a fault with the tires or do I have to correct something on the car - camber/toe? Gonna try some Hankooks now.

N.B. Car is 2006 E55 (275/35/18)

Sounds like something might be rubbing the inner sidewall; possibly a bolthead. Any signs of something in the wheelwell polished by the rubbing?

These cars come with a lot of negative camber. Only way to correct this is to install KMAC camber kits. I have seen a dozen e55 rip inner sidewalls

Wouldn't excessive negative camber have shown up with accelerated wear on the inner tread of the tire?

Yes it will show, but tell me how many of you check your inner side wall every week. Speaking from experience on a monday I checked my front inner sidewall well come saturday I had steel threads showing I had put about 100 miles on the car.

that's exactly what happened to me as well, I found out that since my car was so low the inside of the tire was actually rubbing on the sway bar causing the tire to eat away. I had to stick 13mm spacers in the rear to cure it.

I have the same problem, they rear inner side are worn off but the center and outer are perfect with lots of tread left. The front tires are not that bad but still worn out uneven.
3 months ago I check the tires and it was fine.
I already got the KMAC front camber kit installed with an alignmnent and it still wear out due to the car in Sport 2 all the time.
I got the stock wheels back on, will get new tire after winter.

My inner wall on the left back tire went last Sunday. Follow Sharduls advice and check it weekly.
Camber plus Torque = Torn tire walls

I got the KMAC installed about 7 month ago..I put about 7-8K miles on it since but I know I check the tires on my last oil change which was about 3K miles ago and I did not notice this much inner tires wear. I just notice it a few days ago when I remove the wheel for winter.

I'll take some pictures tonight.

With the K-Mac kit, which I believe has a lot of adjustment on these models, surely any wheel aligner would be able to get it perfectly set up for you?

And if there's a conflict between the tire and the sway bar, what inset do your wheels have?

Wierd, I just had the front left blow out on me 2 days ago. Same wear of the inner tread on both fronts.

Maybe you should ask K-Mac for an answer?

I just orderd the rear K-mac kit, I've already got the front kit but i havent installed it yet, ill post the results when they get installed.

I also had two Vredestein tires blow out the side walls when I was running 20" wheels on my car, and it had nothing to do with inside tire wear, Post up some photos of the tire if you dont mind.

Interesting, I am yet to be convinced of the camber stuff because I went through that horror on my old E420 that I dropped the suspension and put on different shocks - that car went through tire wear like I worked for Michelin. I even then had the KMAC camber kit put on both the front and rear - didn't solve the problem.
So on this car I have really had a hard time staying with the stock setup but here's the problem again albeit in a different format.
Check the pictures the wear across the surface of the tire is fantastic
