Steering wheel shake/chassis vibrations

A month or so ago, vibrations through the floorboard and steering wheel shake started occurring in the E. I took it to the dealership for oil change and they said that the engine mount needs to be replaced. Off the top of my head I believe they quoted me $1700 to change out the mounts. Is this a fair price?

Thanks in advance

Motor mounts are 88.00+ shipping through Parts.com (mb factory parts) so you tell me, is 1700.00 fair? There are plenty of how to's and info on doing this job by using the search tab and make sure its specific to E55 211 section.

That's about what they charged me. If I remember right, the parts were around 80-100, and 8-10 hours of labor ($175/hour in the bay area). However, they did change my transmission mounts too in that price.

Wow, part cost is cheap. It will be better/cheaper for my friends speedshop to do it then.

Are there any aftermarket mounts that are "better suited" for our amgs?
I've now heard that our mounts go bad more than they should.

considering the amount of tq our mounts have to deal with, i think they do just fine. with that said, that price is way to high for a 2-3hr job!

Ok it's getting new mounts as we speak. Hopefully all vibrations dissipate.

Does anybody have contact info of a extended warranty company that still issues amg warranties? I need to get one for peace of mind. I just got off the phone with MB and they said they will not be able to cover the e55.
