HELP: Battery Symbol "Visit Workshop" ...car has been sitting a while?
This morning as I got into the car to come to work, a message appeared in red. The message had a large battery symbol with the "+ and -" displayed.
Underneath it, it said visit workshop? Is my small or primary battery dying/low? On my commute to work, the functions that were temporarily unavailable, such as seat warmer, was available again and working fine.
I do have to mention that my car sat for about a week and a half while we were out of town and the temps have been below freezing over the last week during the nights. The car hadn't even been turned on during this last week/week and a half.
Could this be why it is saying this message because the battery wasn't charged up with the freezing weather?
Is the battery or this message covered under the original MB factory warranty?
Any help would be appreciated .... thank you.

had the same issue for the last couple of weeks - it was my auxillary battery. I just replaced both batteries as they were both the originals...

I made an appt with the dealer to diagnose the problem.
I believe this is all covered under the factory original MB warranty?

May not be the aux battery itself. Had the same issue last week. Technician merely cleaned a couple of fuses in the boot, popped the fuses back in and the problem disappeared.

Also, it does sound like your batteries ran low in the cold weather after not being charged for awhile. If the batteries are still ok, the warning should go away after driving.

Thanks for the comments, guys.
The battery symbol along with "Visit Workshop" all in red went away after driving a little over 15 miles.
Either way, I wanted to the tech to check it out at the dealer.
It turned out to be a defective/failing auxillary battery after all. Replaced fully under the original factory MB warranty, didn't cost me a penny except the gas to drive there(6 miles from my house).
My car has 38K miles and is still covered under Spring 2011 (will need to extend then).
They said my windshield wipers need to be replaced ... estimated cost... $127!![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
I said no thanks, I will do them myself. Wow, $127, seriously?
Thanks to this forum, I had some ammo going into the dealer about the aux battery.
