Did an E55 run 9`s in Chicago?

I heard a rumor that one of our members ran a 9 second time with an E55 on spray? He does not post much but we all know turbo Lou.. Was anyone at the track to see this or get the slip from Lou?

I know he has all the best mods, roll cage , super light wheels and a 195mm plus pulley..

If that is indeed true, it'd be very exciting news since it'll be the first Mercedes-Benz into the 9s

I hope he eventually posts

Well, I was told by the driver in question that he did not run in the 9's.

However, another client of mine was there with his SL65 and his S600 and after a long talk with Lou was allowed to see the slips. Him and his buddies verified this verbally.

Tons of people street race and when they are running NC at the track, they are the only ones who ever really know the real times.

IMO it's untrue until the slip is posted....

I think a 100 wet shot would get a high 10 second e55 into the 9`s but that is if the tranny, rear end and suspesion would take the power.. Probally would for a run or two but parts would start breaking soon..

A 100 N/A wet shot set up would be more like a 175 on a boosted engine.. I would not run stock control arms either..

Any chance Lou would post the slip????

I think it would take more than 100 shot to get a high 10s E55 into the 9s but there is only one way to find out!

I don't know him but I seriously doubt he would post it. Then everyone would know what he runs and not run him if they are slower or definitely run him if they were faster.

Assuming the intercooling system is up to the task of cooling the air charge sufficiently(which it certainly would be on a car like that) a 100 shot is a 100 shot regardless of engine type. I would agree that the cooling effect certainly produces some extra power on say a Stage 1 car with 180mm pulley, but the supercharger doesn't multiply N2O power.

Yep , one way to find out but I am sure a 100 shot level for N/A car would be enough.. That would be 175 ish shot through the blower.. It also depends on how brave you are to spray off the line.. 1.45 sixty foot does wonders for ET..

If

If you find someone running a 175 shot on a sotck drivetrain E55 off the line Make sure they bring a mop and a broom to clean up all their parts off the track lol. I could cut a 1.45 60' without nitrous if the driveline could handle it lol

Maybe I'm missing something. Are you guys saying that the same jet that produces 100hp on an N/A car will produce 175 hp on a blower car? Can somebody explain, as I'd genuinely like to know.

I had a 125 shot on a previous car, and my understanding is that for a given jet size you get XXX amount of power, regardless of engine type or size. Running a .062 jet(random number) will give you 100 hp whether it's going into an LS-1 or a supercharged BBC or a Suzuki Swift. Like I said above, I can understand some gains from charge cooling, but aside from that where is 100 N/A--->175 S/C hp coming from?

I don't think you are missing anything. In all my years I've never heard anyone say a 100hp shot increases exponentially from a NA car to FI car either.

I've seen dyno numbers and runs that would counter what the above person is implying. So unless he can show me different I'll believe what I've seen with my own eyes

Hey, the perfect day to resurrect this thread from the dead!

Hopefully one of the current big builds will make this thread a reality this year.

True, even then, let's see a back up run too. The timers do screw up every so often.

Yes sir I agree. Id wager a large sum that the 9 second barrier gets blown past this year!

I can think of at least 5 or 6 cars that should be in the nines this year. The race to nines is on
