Hello everyone,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a big Porsche Freak and am taking delivery of my first Mercedes in a couple of weeks. I am getting a black/black e55 with V60 phone option and Keyless go. I did not have to much choice in options since I am geting one of the first cars that are being released. Orginally I had an sl55 on order for may but ended up getting jerked around by the dealer so while I wait for the sl55 which is due in the fall I fell in love with the e55.

Can anyone tell me when the actual release date is gonna be? My car is at the port and trying to get an idea of when I should try to sell my m3. Also what does everyone have planned for rims? Does anyone plan on changing them? If so what kind of setups are you guy's gonna change to and what rim? I have also read about a lowering module. Is this the best route to go or does someone make coilovers that fit? Thanks for all your help and l look forward to sharing my experience with the car with everyone.

Welcome my friend. We seem to have similar taste in sedans, and if I could afford it I would have a similar sports car as well I have thought about rims and I have decided because of weight issues that if I do anything it will be forged, maybe HRE. The only way to lower the car is by a "lowering module", Iam unsure as to who makes the best or how they differ. The car is released but I think the first shipment has not been made yet. I have a 2nd decade of April build, so I think shes assembled by now and should be shipped with the first batch of E55's to hit the states. As of last week, per Netstar there have been no 2003 E55's shipped yet. And yes you can still get a summer delivery E55, at MSRP, if you want to pick you own options and colors, just send me an email and I will put you in touch with "my guy" jwade@greateratlantic.net Welcome to the board Duane.

Jason

Thanks for the replies. The only option that I would of wanted would of been the nav. I am going to research some companies and maybe have it done aftermarket.

As far as wheels which HRE's are you thinking of? I wonder how the 843's would look?

Welcome Duane, I agree with Jay about getting some forged rims especially if you are going plus-1 with 19" wheels. Check out

For AMG I think this wheel in 19X8.5 and 19X9.5 is great:

Welcome Duane!! I wanted to let you guys know that there have been a few E55's shipped to the states, but not released to the dealers. Here in So. Cal. we have one car that is at the VPC (vehicle prep. center) and is just waiting for the wholesale date from MBUSA, so they can release the car to the trucking company and get it to the dealership. Of course the car is spoken for, by a client who has purchased several vehicles from us and has a W210 E55 now. The customer has actually chosen some unusally options: Bi-Xenons, Panorama roof, Solar Panel & CD changer. Well, I guess not too unusal except for the Solar Panel.

Oh i thought the solar panel would be a pretty popular option with the pano roof.
