Extended warranty on high priced items only?

For those who may know, is it possible to get an extended warranty for high priced repairs only? I mean, I do my own labor and can get parts relatively cheap...but if my engine blows then it's going to be a huge chunk of cash.

So is there any warranty that I can choose for coverage on repairs, for example, over $2000 or $3000? Hopefully to make it a super cheap insurance on hugely expensive repairs.

I don't have an E55 yet, but soon.

Sort of a dumb question. What is too expensive? Different people, companies will have different opinions on expense. Factory parts or aftermarket parts. I have never even heard of a warranty like that. Does not even sound logical. Buy the normal warranty or get another car I would think most would say.

What's so complicated? All they have to do is offer various deductibles and that's it. Maybe a warranty that has a $1000 deductible for example.

Yes, probably. I just don't need a warranty to cover just about every stupid repair...only one for the BIG repairs, if any. By big repairs I'm talking about engine and tranny stuff....so it would be a warranty with a high enough deductible to make small repairs not viable.

They have that for sure. But your question makes it seem like you want the supercharger covered but not the water pump, you want the rear struts covered because they are expensive but not the fronts since rebuilts are not. You can get different deductibles and levels of coverage.

Sounds like a high deductible HSA plan, but for your car

I guess it maybe I should have mentioned the deductibles...lol. I just wasn't sure if extended warranties worked that way.

So...what warranty should I go with?
