Just got my ECu flashed via STAR
Hey guys, I just got my brakes done at my indy. I had the ECU reprogrammed via STAR and now it is a lot more responsive and the shifts are crispy. Don't know if anyone has done this but is has made a significant change in my car. He only charged me 60 bucks. He said there is a map that is only available to the european cars and boy did it make a difference. I wonder if it will amplify my performance when I get a custom tune by OE Tuning. The flash consisted of fuel mapping and timing as well as speed limiter delete. Did it on my mom's CLS550 and it made a significant difference as well.

Whatever we're tuning!
There are a couple of maps that are accessible with SDS in the ECU so he probably set your ignition maps to 91 minimum octane since you are in CA. Most cars are set to a base map that isn't very aggressive so if someone accidentaly put in 87 octane the car would still be able to correct itself and not cause too many issues with the *****ty fuel. Did he tell you that you have to run 91 octane?
Also you don't remove the speed limiter. You raise it so you won't be able to hit it.
European maps?

HAHA nice. I think he did set it to 91 minimum because he also said he can program your ECU for 87 octane as well. Thank Bruce for the heads up. My car definately runs better now.

with STAR you can reset all the adaptive and learning curves for all the engine electronic components. This is basically what he has done, no doubt the car will feel faster.

I think there is a setting in there to make it run leaner or richer depending on where the car is being made for, like warm weather runs richer and vice versa.
He prolly reset the adaptations and the car will soon begin to feel lazzy again.

He accessed the 4 maps that are in every stock M113k-equipped cars ECU(some do have slightly enrich, enrich and leaner but those are other engines M272, M156,M271, etc) and changed it from the base tables to the 91 minimum octane tables. That is why he told him to run only 91 and why he also said he could set it to 87 octane too.
It would have been smart also to reset the adaptions in the ECU and transmision but that would be temporary until transmission relearned the "granny shift mode".
