Navigation COMAND software service update - anyone?
I decided to update my maps from 2005 to 2010. I got a DVD from eBay for $95 - looks very legit and way cheaper than the dealer. The problem is when I put it in I get a message to the tune of "Navi-DVD not found, insert Navi-DVD". After googling around, seems like in order to be able to update to current maps, I need to get a software service update and update the firmware in the navigation unit first, before it lets me install the current maps. Could anyone please point me in the right direction where to get this? I've found an older update online but after installing it, the new maps are still not recognized. Any idea if the dealer can update the software free or at least cheap (from my experience they will try to charge me hundreds
)? If you have a copy, perhaps you can share with me? Seems like getting the software service update and sharing should be perfectly legal and simple - since I paid for the maps, so hopefully I can get some help with installing. Thanks, guys!

There is a COMAND update from 04/06 that will ensure your NAV will work with later MAP updates. It also allows you to play MP3's in the COMAND DVD slot.
I have it somewhere. Send me a PM with your email address and I'll get it to you.

very interesting
So the DVD would not be recognized, but when I made a copy of the DVD with DVD Decrypter and burned it, it recognized the backup! Pretty crazy - it's running off the backup fine now, but wouldn't off the original. Never seen that before
