Moving on Brakes - Missing Anything?
About to move on brakes for me E55 as the sensor just went off yesterday. (I have 45K miles on it.)
Initially I'm not going to buy rotors but if Dyno Comp says I need them based on a micrometer reading (I will ask them to do this first) I'll hold off on the install and go with those.
Here's what I'm getting and price:
- EBC Rear Red Stuff Ceramic Brake Pads front and rear & Motul RBF 600 Brake Fluids @ Horsepowerfreaks.com for $295.18 delivered.
- 2 new front brake sensors and 1 rear one (3 in total) for $16.48 @ Rockauto.com
- 16 packets (4 for each pad) of Genuine MB Brakepad paste at autohausaz.com to be applied on the pads at installation to improve bedding, prevent squeaking for $30.24.
- Total w/o intall = $342.
- Install at Dyno Comp = $200 for 2 hours of labor
- All in = $542.
Look good?
Thanks.
Alex

If you need rotors check out www.parts.com which I think you might be needing with 45K on the present rotors.
A little over kill on the anti squeal, as typically you only need one pack per axle. AKA two in total, but for $4 who cares.
Enjoy the reds as they are my favorite all around pad.
Remember, ALL brake pads require bedding for maximum like, stopping power, and to prevent squealing. There are instructions with the pads, please read them.
PM for a quick bedding procedure that ALWAYS works.

For rotors yes I'll go with parts.com but I figured I'd go to Dyno Comp first with everything in hand BUT the rotors measured with a micrometer. If they say I need new ones, I'll stop the install, buy the rotors from Parts.com and get that going.
Can't hurt to check first as the rotors may still be good.
Thanks very much!

I know the MB braking systems is pretty complex so should I go with Dyno Comp for the install even though they're a bit more expensive? Dyno Comp knows E55's very well and I'm all about paying a more for the expertise.
Your advice as always, is appreciated.
Thanks.

And the biggest benefit of all, is that I can get all 4 rotors for the price of two Mercedes front rotors.

If you need rear rotors let me know. I have a set of nib ones that I never installed as mine were fine.

$2K for it though!

Can't hurt to ask Dyno-Comp if they have this to see what other, "Fun stuff" they could easily do for my beast.

Thanks!
Alex
That way you have everything covered.
