June Road and Track test
E55 wins! Jag S-Type R 4th, M5 3rd, RS6 2nd. E55 0-60 @4.2 and 1/4 mile 12.4@116.4.. "Technology, torque, luxury and true supercar performance make the E55 the new king of high=performance sedans. "Rarely does an automobile come along that makes you run to the railing, fling your arms open and scream, I am the king of the world."

Brakes and Handling
stopping distance were ~ same , from 60 E55@118FT.. BMW 116ft. From 80 E55 @ 209 Audi @202. The only complaint on braking is about the difficulty of modulation for smooth around-town stops.
Subjective handling ratings:
A=20
B=17.8
J=16.1
M=17.8

That's amazing. Road & Track and Car & Driver are published by the same company. I bet they handed over the same actual cars from the Car & Driver review to the Road & Track editors with different results.

I guess the W211 E55 will be superior to all UberSedans in 2004 model year because there will be no 2004 M5.

BTW, even after E55 was named tops, I've seen later issues of Autocar that refer to the M5 being best due to it's previous win over the S-type R when it was first introduced. Seemed like the little side bar comments were just not up to date.

In Road and Track, the E55 posted some of the best numbers yet.
0-60 4.2
1/4 mile 12.4(or 12.5) @ 116mph
0-100 9.4 or 9.2
(sorry for the bad memory-tough night)
R&D clearly had the best 0-100 time I had ever seen. Everybody else barely had the E55 under 10 seconds to 100. But R&D was coming close to the 9 second mark. That is so awsome.

They also liked the interior "cheap plastics" the most!
They also liked the brakes and the steering.
Sounds like they really drove the car not just rewrite and copy like the other scribes.

absent- I figured you were talking about Road & Track article, is that issue out in the stores yet? Also, did Knauz do your renntech C32 or did you have to send down to Florida? Any renntech mods due in the future on your E55? I have to keep my eyes open for you on the Edens , and stay out of the left lane!
Enjoy your E55 when it arrives.

Sorry to harp about the C&D review, but I couldn't help but notice another inconsistency in their article.
The W211 E55 weighs 4037Lbs with a 70Kg driver and 72 litres of fuel and 15Kg of luggage according to the owners manual and the AMG website. This is about the same as the M5, which was around 200Lb's heavier than the W210 E55. How did the C&D car manage to find the extra 200 odd Lbs that they reported??

Bones:mods on C32 were done before I picked up the car and yes E55 will get whatever is available from Renntech,but after I break the car in and after I measure it on dyno for a baseline.
Don't worry about me on the Edens,I go crazy only between 4-5 am.
