Reporting back now. The car is strong as ever before. The new rings are still setting in. There seems to be a really bad oil leak from bottom front crank case cover as Jake advised this is the crank seal I'll have to check it out (above the oil pan but lower than the oil filter housing).
Turned out to be the oil filter housing. Also replaced the crank seal just in case. Everything is back to normal this thing is a beast! Love the new tune

Awesome Salik. Can;t wait to see it on sunday. Once again congrats on the rebuild..amazing dedication and work
Going to have to redo the head gasket. Developed a coolant leak of some sort and is blowing large amounts of sweet smelling white smoke. Hoping it's not a cracked head. Fingers crossed.
Wanted to revisit this thread after my findings today. I swapped a 2002 cl55 n/a motor into my cl500, and later installed a turbo running about 7-8psi
photos are of the ring lands that broke apart on my cylinder 6 piston
Ahhhhh the "Plus T" trick that seems to always turn out this way. I did the same decades ago. Pro-tip.... Start with the K version of the bent-eight and give it forged pistons and H-Beam rods with programmable EMS for best results. Bet you can cobble water-air charge cooling easily enough. Don't do anything forced induction without real charge cooling.
E55 cylinder 2 hot spot. Stock except for fixed 83mm pulley and tune. Travelled 20,000km with no issues. No firm diagnoses to be confident enough to rebuild so purchased another E55.
