WARRANTY QUESTION??
I just bought a 04' E55 with 69k miles with stage 5 Renntech. Yesterday after putting gas in the car the check engine light went on. Which woke me up to be that this car over the years is going to be more expensive to maintain then possibly a warranty will. Like having a BOAT with stands for ( Break Out Another Thousand). Does anyone have any suggestions of Independent After Market Insurance Companies that cover these cars. I know there is alot of BS out there or is it best to go see what mercedes can do for me. All help and Info will be appreciated.

hopefully, your first CEL will be something simple. There are a number of good warranties to be had. The Chrysler warranty was one of the best, but they might not be writing new paper on AMGs. There has been lots of discussion on this topic so you should be able to find some good stuff using the search function. There are some people that do not carry extended warranties, but the consensus seems to be that a warranty is necessary on these beasts.

try checking the gas cap, if its open itll throw a light. and +2 on Chrysler, if theyll do it. ps. i think your car would benefit from a bigger left snorkel

2006 E55 AMG
chrysler started canceling policies last year. i have tried calling them 3 different occasions to try to set a warranty up. no go. they are no longer offering these policies on AMG vehicles. i would say try mercury because their prices seemed very similar and the coverage is similar as well. most of the good aftermarket warranties you will have to purchase through a dealer. good luck

Code
P0128 was what came up. I reset the CEL to see if it came back on, and yes it did about 2 days later and a half a dozen starts. A couple of the starts where when the car was ice cold. When it did come on it was after a start when the car had a little temp showing. Let me know where I should start.

I had the same code last week. I ended up replacing the thermostat($63 from dealer) and the thermostat sensor($12). Pretty simple job, but I still got it done at my indy 1 HR labor.
