SLIM HID KIT, GP Thunder 6000K
SO my E55 did not come with HID, it did not bug me until I got used to driving my ML63 (w/Factory HID) at night.
Now I can notice how much the Philips H7 Stockies suck.
Now I am not a very good at electric type installs on my home or car.
So I found this kit looking for bulbs. It seems that I can get a decent setup for 40 bux!
and I do not have to cut any wires. I am in Santa Barb CA and there are no good electronic installers here that I trust, so I was thinking of trying this out. Has anyone tried it, any errors?

I will need this canceller, and I am not sure how it works with the kit

Here's the thing, you don't have to know about electronics at all! These kits are completely plug and play, no splicing or anything. The wires look like a mess in the pic but when u get them you will see it's just a daisy chain. The plug that goes to your stock low beam bulbs plugs into the ballast/igniter box, then the pigtail coming out of the box goes to the hid bulb. They even have alternating male/ female ends on the bulb connections so you cant connect them wrong. ThE only thing is the spade connectors that plug into the cars wiring harness, if they are reversed there will be no harm to the hid kit, the light just wont turn on, then you just reverse the spades and you're in biznss. Not to contradict pearl power but the hid bulbs are all the same power wise, it's the box that's either 35w or 55w. The bulbs dictate the Kelvin temperature range though. So a 6000k bulb with a 35w box will produce a slightly bluish light for instance, ands if you put a 55w box on that same bulb it will be way brighter and the color will be washed out and be much whiter. The 55w setups will have people hi-beam flashing you all the time because they think you are hi-beaming them, then then you hi-beam the back for real it's kinda funny.

Vader,
No experience with the company you linked.
I tried two kits from the HIDEXTRA suggested above, which did not work properly. But then I bought one from TSPNY.com (with cancellor) which worked perfectly. I would try thru them first, and they're a sponsor on this board. These are a pretty easy install by the way.

Hey Vader,
Definitely 6000k as that's what I have and it's the best.
I would skip the blue style and just get the regular 6000k which has a slightly bluish tint to it anyway. I (believe) the bulbs are H7 but I will have to research that again.
You may have to make a note for warning cancellor because I don't see it listed on the site - or call Dan... I think that cost $13

it stops the light beam from flickering, & prevents a "check low beam" error....
I hope they're shipping yours with the order vader, that way everything arrives at one time. did they charge you a few extra? if not, call their number ( 718 846 2407 ) and ask for Dan....

Does anyone have experience with these versus Apexcone or Lightwerkz or another reputable company? I'm just a bit wary of jumping on these due to the price being so low that it is almost too good to be true.
I can remember when HID's were a lot more costly, but now that the chinese have figured out how to reverse engineer them, every one over there is making them.

As technology progressed, HID prices dropped an incredible amount. I remember about 7 years ago a kit would run $250 or so. Nowdays, a slimline kit is just $59!

Does anyone have a DIY of the low beam bulb install? Or is it that it is so simple it isn't necessary. Looks to me like it would be a pain due to space restrictions behind the bulb.

exactly! what I'm saying. It looks to me like you'd have to remove the headlight, and to do so I'm pretty sure you have to take off the front bumper.
Anybody have tips?

Had to open paypal dispute on tspny, when I get the money back I am going with hidextra.com. They seem to have good customer service and price.

I would hold off on doing that. Had to take the entire front bumper off to install the HIDs only to find out out one of them didn't work. Pretty sure it's really cheap stuff out of china. So far I've been through a few loops trying to get a new one, and it looks like they are not going to do anything else to further remedy the situation. Pain in the ***
