New CLS63TT traps 93mph in the 1/8 in Cali. That good or bad?? VID

Basically it's a German vid about a guy that takes his CLS to the local track to prove that it's a muscle car. Kinda hokey but all I was caring about was those track times!!!

The German guy does go through what most of us do at local tracks so it's fun to watch that play out......then roasts an old 427 Cobra Stang.

Is 93 trapping in the 1/8th any good you guys?

So used to 1/4s.

Skip ahead to about 9:40 to get to the good stuff

Liking this car more and more.

Considering selling the SL and the E, and getting this. I love it.

But to answer your question, 93mph is decent. For comparison, my basement 11.x runs have had a 97-98mph 1/8th. I'd have to do some research on here, but I bet it's close the stock CLS55/CLS63 1/8th MPH, Maybe 1 or 2 MPH more.

93 is pretty good for its size.I was trapping 89-90 100% stock with my e55 and now 94-96mph in the 1/8

That is pretty impressive. That is indicative of a 118-120mph 1/4 trap speed.

Tom,

Not so sure about that. I just took a look at a few of my timeslips, many with 120 traps. All of them were 95-96 1/8th. I bet this is gonna be a 116-117mph car. Different car, I know....but I bet they're close enough to compare.

Impressive for a first time if you ask me. When they fit this to the E-class body, it's buh-bye 6.2.

I looked at all my "stock" CL65 runs and they ranged from 91.2-92.8mph 1/8m traps that resulted in 118.2-118.98mph 1/4m traps. I think this car will definitely be a 118+mph trapping car bone stock.

Wish someone knew the guys at that track. Maybe Mo might. Would love to see the 60ft etc on that run. He ran launch control on it.

LA County Raceway shut down long time ago. At Famoso (central California), my car usually traps between 90 mph to 92 mph. So I guess that's a pretty good time for a heavy CLS63.

Also, I'm not sure if you had a chance to read this or not, but Autoweek tested the new CLS63 AMG in the 1/4 mile at over 4000 ft elevation using VBox equipment and this was the result:

0-60 mph: 3.9 seconds
1/4 mile: 12.1 @ 121.5 mph

So corrected time, because of elevation would put it where? 11.7ish?

Drives Slowly
That car gives me wood regardless of its trap speed. I would hope for at least a 12 @ 120 mph+ but I would not be surprised if it performs a bit better.

Anyone have a deposit down on this car yet?

I'm still in a love/hate it with the design.

But damn does it look special in motion.

The thing is, you don't know if they actually corrected the data for that 4,000' elevation like every other US car magazine.

My stock car trapped at 92.5mph at the 1/8th mile on its best run so its probably right on par with 55's give or take.
